OK, This is getting kinda weird. Mattel must be getting ready to release this new version of the Hot Wheels 1:18 Scale Batmobile Car because they are starting to show up on eBay right now. The special thing about this one is that it is CHROME-PLATED & also made to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of DC Comics. So, if you're a Completest-Collector, who has to have every single version made, then you might keep an eye out for this one soon!
There's a Bat-Blog Reader named Steve who is totally into the whole diecast car collecting thing & he wrote, "Looks like Hot Wheels is releasing another version of the 1:18 scale 1966 Batmobile. This one will have a matte black finish & special DC 75th Anniversary packaging." OK, he also adds that this is ALL the information available right now. Not exactly sure when, or where, it will be released or the retail price but when that information surfaces then you'll be able to read it here first. Now, I'm guessing that it will be some sort of Comic Book Con Exclusive. Maybe SDCC ( San Diego ) or NYCC ( New York City ). As a side-note, "Man, how many variations on this thing are Mattel gonna make?" I do like the idea of the matte black paint though. Should look pretty awesome! ( Be sure to click on the above photos for larger versions ). Also, Thank you Steve for sending the cool pics & giving us the heads-up!
A friend from Australia named Mit send this amazing video he made of his toy car that he totally customized. Of course it's the Hot Wheels 1966 Batmobile Diecast Car ( I'm pretty sure it's the large 1:18 Scale )! Looks like he rigged it up to shoot a real-life blue flame out of the back exhaust...AWESOME! This is extremely cool Mit & what a great job you did, it looks very well-done & thanks for sending the video, I appreciate that. I know a lot of readers are into making custom toys so if they have some photos of recent work like action figures, toy cars, dolls, etc...then please send them in today!
Over at THE CAR ROOM they have an interesting video review of the Hot Wheels 1966 "Elite" Batmobile by Mattel. The one with the classic 60's TV Show design by George Barris. The detailing on this car is insane & it's quite a beauty. I couldn't embed the video right here for you to enjoy but here's a few photos to wet your appetite & then just click the button below to visit their page to see the video.
Our friend at "Scooter's Custom Works" created this really neat video showing him getting the new 1:18th Scale TV Batmobile from Hot Wheels. He pulls it right out of the case, opens the box, then gives you a great visual of the entire car...nice! It gives you a very good idea what the toy looks like.
