Eaglemoss Collections, the UK company that brought us the cool "DC Superhero Figurines", is now coming out with a new collection of Batmobiles! These new cars are die-cast, 1:43 Scale, & come inside a presentation case that has a 3D lenticular backdrop. Also, each car comes with a collectible 12-page magazine that gives the history of the vehicle. The 1st car in the BATMAN AUTOMOBILIA Series will be the Batmobile from the 1989 Batman Movie! Then, they're making the 1966 Batmobile from the Classic TV Show!
Here's a list of the five cars in the 1st wave: - 1989 Batman Movie
- 1966 Batman TV Show
- 2005 Batman Begins Movie
- 2009 Comic Book Version
- 1944 Comics Version
They plan on continuing the collection & those cars, in the 2nd wave, will include: 1992 The Animated Series, 1985 Comic Book Version, 1939 Comics, 1995 Comics, & 2008 The Dark Knight Movie Bat-Pod!
Oh man, these sound really great! Plus, the production photos of the 1st five cars so far look really really good, I'm totally excited!! Now the bad news: I gotta say that these cars will take a little trouble to find in the US. You see, they're made in the UK exclusively for the European Market & will only be made available in the USA through special outlets. One rumor I've heard is that they might be distributed through Diamond Distributors, they supply American Comic Book Stores with product. So, you might check one of those. Another source will be a few online stores that do ship in the US. Once I get that list compiled I will be doing another post here so be sure to stay tuned to the Bat-Blog!
Here's a brand-new Batman Toy to look out for on your next trip to Target. Here's the MATCHBOX CAR 5-Pack Gift Set with a BATMAN: THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD TV cartoon theme. The cars & trucks all feature Gorilla Grodd, Green Arrow, Batman, & Joker graphics. Yes, my favorite one is the purple car with the Joker on it. But actually, they're all pretty neat. This set retails for about $8.99, not a bad price. ( Thanks to Batmobilly for sending the photo ).

Just a quick post to let people know that the "Batman: The Brave and The Bold" 2010 Hot Wheels Car is starting to surface in retail stores right now. In fact, my friend Doug sent these pics to me recently ( Thanks Doug! ). So, keep an eye out for it on your next trip to Target, Wal-Mart, etc. I love this car, it's...so...beautiful!
OK, Today is the day! Today we are announcing the winner for the latest Bat-Blog Contest! Last night, at Midnight, we randomly picked a name out of the hat to see who won the Brand-New Hot Wheels (1:12 Scale) 1966 TV Series BAT-CYCLE With SIDECAR! I always love that part of the contests, getting to see who actually won the item we're giving away. I know I'm totally stupid but it's just a lot of fun, ha ha! Plus, this prize must have been pretty good because a ton of people sent in requests, that's awesome! I hope to have another contest pretty soon so keep an eye out for that. OK, enough stalling, ha ha! It's time to announce the winner! The lucky person this time is none other than Jonathan K. of Melbourne, Australia! WOW! Somebody from "down under" won ...that's cool! Jonathan, please contact us so we can confirm your correct mailing address. Then, we will be mailing you this beautiful Hot Wheels item! Plus, I'm gonna pack this prize very carefully because Australia is pretty far away from where I live & I want this prize to arrive safely. I know you're gonna love it because it really is very cool. I think that Mattel did a really great job on creating this item, the detailing is really well done.
Thank you to everybody who entered & better luck next time!
( Also, for legal reasons maybe, I gotta mention that Mattel, DC Comics, or Warner Bros had nothing to do with this contest. It's just a way for the Bat-Blog to show appreciation for its readers )
OK, This is getting kinda weird. Mattel must be getting ready to release this new version of the Hot Wheels 1:18 Scale Batmobile Car because they are starting to show up on eBay right now. The special thing about this one is that it is CHROME-PLATED & also made to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of DC Comics. So, if you're a Completest-Collector, who has to have every single version made, then you might keep an eye out for this one soon!

I thought, for this post, we would revisit a cool Batman Toy from the recent past. In 2002 a toy company called "Johnny Lightning" was making a few Batman-related items that were extremely cool! Now, they made some diecast toys of the Batmobile vehicles of course but they also made these small 1:24 scale metal "screw-together" Model Kits. There were 4 in the complete set: The 1960's Batmobile Car, The 1950's Batmobile, The 60's Batboat, & my favorite, the Bat-Gyro! I remember when these came out & I thought it was so cool that they did such an obscure vehicle as the Bat-Gyro, ha ha! I mean, you never NEVER see this being made! Now another weird thing too was that these were kinda hard to find. I never really saw them much in the usual retail stores like Target & Wal-Mart but you could always find them at Hobby Specialist shops. I guess because they were more like model kits & not actual toy cars. But anyway, they're just great. Now for reference photos I could only find 3 of the original boxes, & I'm missing the one for the Bat-Gyro, but you get the idea. Plus, all 4 vehicles are shown here & you can see their TOTAL beauty.
I recently did a post where we featured some Production Art for a few Batman 1:43rd Scale Batmobile Corgi Cars that were never made. Diecast Toy Collectors call them "Unproduced Cars". Anyway, it seemed to be a pretty popular post with a lot of Corgi Fans contacting me. One such guy was a new friend named Jason. He lives in Chicago & actually sort of worked with the team that was creating these cars. In fact, he was the guy who suggested they make a Mothmobile! Now, I really love that car so thanks to Jason we got it. Another neat thing about the e-mail was he sent this Production Art of another "Unproduced Corgi Car". They did have plans to make a Riddler-themed one but never did. That's a shame because it looks pretty cool! Now, the photo he sent was pretty BIG so I decided to make a Desktop Wallpaper out of it. So, if you click on it to get the large version, then you can right-click & make it your desktop background...enjoy! Oh yeah, before I forget, Thank you Jason for sending the stories & the photo, I always appreciate that!
OH MY GOD!! Here's the official "blueprint" of the 1966 BAT-CYCLE ( or is it Batcycle? ) that Mattel will be releasing later as a 1:12 Scale Hot Wheels Batman TV Show Diecast Vehicle ( Was this thing in the movie? I can't remember, I think it was ). It looks pretty cool & we can't wait to see the real thing! Now of course we hope you stay tuned to the Bat-Blog because this is where you'll get the news of the actual release date & 1st photos of the real toy. Remember, Be sure to click on the link-button down below to get yours today!
OK, It's finally time to announce the winner for our recent Bat-Blog Contest where we are giving away three 1:50 Scale Hot Wheels, The 1966 Batmobile Car with Trailer Hitch, The Bat-Boat with Trailer, & the Classic '66 Bat-Cycle Motorcycle!! But first I would like to thank our good friend THE BATFAN for donating these 3 gifts. Without his amazing generosity this contest would not have existed. So, Thank You BATFAN! I would also like to thank everyone for entering. These toys must be pretty well liked because we received record responses! As you should know the contest ended last night, at midnight, & a little after that I put a ton of numbers in a hat. After mixing them up for quite awhile one number was randomly picked from the batch. The lucky winner of the latest Bat-Blog Contest is...Steven M. of Westville, NJ!! Steven, please be sure to contact us soon so we can confirm your mailing address & get these mailed to you. In fact, I already have them very carefully packed & when you get them you're gonna cry! They are really beautiful, seriously! Now, everybody else please stay tuned to the Bat-Blog because we have some more contests lined up that you will not want to miss. For the very next contest I'm thinking about doing a mini-one where it's real quick & will only last a few days. Then we're gonna have a really BIG one with some extremely cool items. Also, Thanks Again to BATFAN & all the people who entered!
OK, If you're planning to go to the 2009 San Diego Comic Con be sure to hit the Mattel Booth for an EXCLUSIVE Hot Wheels THE DARK KNIGHT Batman Movie Tumbler Batmobile and Bat-Pod Motorcycle Set! They have been keeping it pretty top secret but a reader named Tony sent us this amazing photo. Basically it's a Window-Boxed Set of 2 vehicles from the Dark Knight film. The way the vehicles are displayed inside the dox it looks like the Bat-Cycle is bursting out of the Tumbler batmobile Car...SWEET! I have also heard they will be the 1:50 Scale size...AWESOME! As we get more SDCC '09 information we'll have better pics later, so stay tuned to the Bat-Blog for more info! ( Thank You Tony, You ROCK, Sir! )
We're proud to announce another earth-shattering Bat-Blog Contest!! This time we're gonna give away, to one lucky winner, a Set of 3 Hot Wheels 1:50 Scale Batman Toy Vehicles!! Yes, you read that right...THREE BATMAN CARS!! They're the beautiful die-cast versions that are a lot bigger than the regular Hot Wheels size. All of them are Mint-In-Package & include the 1966 Batmobile Car with Trailer Hitch ( version 2 ), the 1966 Bat-Boat with Trailer, & the 1966 Bat-Cycle! These were totally donated by our good friend known as THE BATFAN! He was very generous to suggest he send these & make them available to our readers ( yes, YOU! ) & I really appreciate that, Thanks BatFan! Now, the rules are pretty simple. Just e-mail us your full name & address with the words "BAT-BLOG CONTEST: 1966 HOT WHEELS BATMAN TOYS" in the title. Then, on July 26th, 2009 we will randomly pick a winner out of the hat at midnight. The winner will be announced the very next day so keep an eye out for that. As always we want to wish everybody GOOD LUCK & please be sure to tell all your friends about the Bat-Blog today! ( Oh yeah, maybe for legal reasons I gotta say that this contest is NOT associated in any way to Mattel or Hot Wheels. It's just a generous gift from one Bat-Blog Reader to another ).

I have a good friend named Billy who collects Batman Toys & Memorabilia but his main focus is on the Batmobile Cars. I mean, he's totally crazy about the Batmobile! The neat thing though is that he has an amazing collection. We were talking yesterday about some of the new stuff coming out. There's a new Batmobile Toy Car being made for the Batman: The Brave and The Bold series. It's smaller than the 1st one they made & is pretty cool. There are some new 1:50 Scale Diecast Batmobiles being made by Mattel that are starting to pop-up around the retail stores. They are extremely super-cool ( in my opinion, ha ha ). And then there is the car I am featuring in this post. The photos up above show a new 1966 Batmobile TV Series Toy that is modeled after the Classic George Barris design. It's 1:87 HO Scale, which is smaller than the regular Hot Wheels size, & measures approx. 1 1/2" long. It's a tiny little car that is very detailed & kinda cute. If you have ever surfed the Hot Wheels toy isle then you might have seen these before. They sell them in small little "window boxes". Now Billy told me the reason he has had a hard time finding them ( besides the greedy idiot scalpers stalking the delivery trucks ) is that there's a rumor that there is only 1 Batmobile per case! Now, to me, this seems like total market manipulation by Mattel. Come on, you know THEY know this car will be the most popular. My guess is that latter they will flood the market with them. But who cares about all that. It's a really cool toy & one that all Batman Fans should try to get. Just don't pay the "scalper prices" on internet auctions. Some vultures are trying to sell them to losers for $30 ( they retail in stores for $1.00 ). I say, just be patient & you'll find one. During "new release time" all the scalpers end up buying them all & not being able to sell them because ALL the other scalpers have them too ( because their greedy minds lack any honor or originality, they end up cloning each other ). So, what happens is there are all these scalpers "eating their own product". Go look on "internet auctions" for items they were popular a year ago or just a few months ago. You can almost buy them for "under retail price". Like I said, CLONES. Whew! OK, sorry to vent but as a Vintage Toy Dealer for 20+ years I have learned that these Scalpers are nothing but greedy vultures...who make me sick to my stomach. The only way to stop them is to NOT buy their product. They're just in it for the greed & their fantasies revolve around screwing collectors. So, Please stop helping them, ha ha!

(( Side Note: These pictures seen here can be used for desktop wallpaper )). One of the things I really love about doing the Bat-Blog is getting unexpected messages from Batman Fans who have some special angle on the character. Everybody seems to love the character for different reasons. For some it's the Movies, Comic Books, Toys, Animated Series, TV Show, Graphic Novel or Book, etc...and then there are the "Batmobile Fans"! They are totally CRAZY about the car! They love all the many different variations & eras. They love the "real cars", ones made custom for Movies or TV. They especially like the toy cars too! Here's a wonderful example: A Bat-Blog Reader recently shared some photos of a few cars in her Diecast Corgi Toys Batmobile Car Collection. In the 1st one we see the 1940 Batmobile. This car is one of my top favorites, very art-deco in design, beautiful. The other interesting thing about this pic is the use of the "Dick Sprang - Batcave Lithograph". Mr. Sprang was one of THE major artists of Batman's Golden Age! By accident, the same car is shown in this artwork depicting the early era of Batman. I like the ironic juxaposition here, kinda funny. In the next pic the art direction is pretty cool too. Basically it's a shot of the Corgi 1966 Bat-Boat ( from The '66 Movie! ) but the lighting is really harsh, like on a super-bright sunny day at the lake, & the boat is sitting near actual water. It kinda gives the scene an unusual amount of "fake realism"...but, very well done. Actually, they're great, thank you for sending them. If there are other creative people out there who have some Bat-Info, Pics, Art, Customs, etc...please send it!

Photos for the 2nd series wave of Hot Wheels Batmobile Vehicles are starting to appear. The 1966 Batboat & '66 Batmobile Car with Trailer Hitch are in stores now & the others should arrive soon after. The top photo is from a recent Hot Wheels Collector Convention where they showed off the 1989 Movie Batwing, 1989 Movie Batmobile, 1966 Bat-Cycle ( reissue ), Super Friends Batmobile, & the Bat-Boat with 1966 Car. The next picture shows the back of the packaging for the Bat-Boat & on that we get to see the Dark Knight Bat-Pod Motorcycle, very cool! These vehicles are really great & I can't wait to get them all!!
OK, Recently here at the Bat-Blog we have been running a small contest to give away a Mint-in-Package Hot Wheels 1966 Batmobile Car made by Mattel ©2007. Today I received what I felt to be the last entry so I put the numbers in a hat & randomly chose the winner. I wanna thank everybody who entered but as we all know there can be only one winner. That person is... Ryan P. of Calgary, Alberta ( Canada ). Ryan, please contact us to confirm your current mailing address & we'll get this out to you. Personally, I think it's kind of neat that the 1966 Batmobile Car is going out to Canada. I'm not really sure but they might not have had this item in their retail stores out there. Either way, congratulations Ryan! I also want to tell everybody to please stay tuned to the Bat-Blog because we will be having another sweepstakes very soon! ( Oh yeah, as a legal disclamer, this event was not connected to Mattel in any way. We just wanted to give collectors out there, who were unable to find this great toy, a chance to win it ).
Mattel just recently released the "prototype blueprints" for the soon-to-be-released 1966 BAT-BOAT WITH TRAILER. Now of course they will also be releasing about 12 new 1:50 Scale Batman Batmobile Cars too, including the boat. One of them will be a re-release of the 1966 Batmobile but it will have a special trailer hitch on the back to haul the Batboat. Personally, I can't wait because these are just really great collectibles! ( Click the above image for a larger photo ).
Two days ago the Bat-Blog Contest for the Red Line Club 1966 Batmobile Hot Wheels Car was chosen & I totally forgot to mention it...duh! Sorry, the last few days have been pretty hectic around here. The contest ended on January 24th & that night I picked a winner. Then, the next morning, I forgot to mention who won, ha ha! Sorry about that! Anyways, the lucky winner of the brand-new RLC Hot Wheels 1966 Batmobile Car, Mint in Original Package, goes to Simon F. from the United Kingdom! Simon, please contact us in the next few days to confirm your address & then we will be mailing you this very cool collectible! It's really great & I know you will totally love it.It's even better in person than my bad photo,ha ha! I also wanna thank THE BATFAN for donating this amazing prize to the Bat-Blog contest. This guy has contributed a lot to this site & I really appreciate it. For everybody else please stay tuned to this blog because we're popping up Wacky Batman-related Contests all the time, thanks!
