Personal News: BAT-BLOG.COM Gets a Nice Plug!

Over at the POP CULTURE SHOCK website the Bat-Blog gets a nice mention in the NO CURE FOR COMICS section. Actually, we were Number 1 for almost a year but that's cool ( I'm not bitter, ha ha! ) I mean, if you're in 2nd place, it makes you work harder, right? Anyways, thanks to Matt for the shout out! A. K. A. Gallery ( Oklahoma City, OK ) Presents Colleen Cunningham, a Batman Inspired Artist

On February 1st ( 6:00 pm to 9:00 ), in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma the A. K. A. Gallery will have an opening reception for an artist named Colleen Cunningham. This artist uses a technique known as collage where she pieces together art prints that are very surreal & heavily influenced by pop culture. From her current work it seems her main inspiration is Batman! Up above are just a few examples. It looks like she has appropriated Batman, Robin, & Catwoman. She has some other works with Marvel Superheros too. I would like to invite our readers in this area to come check it out. The gallery is located at 3001 Paseo in the Paseo Arts District. Readers outside the state ( or the USA ) can visit the A. K.A. Gallery MySpace page where you can see a small sample of work. I've added a link button down below, if you're interested. Oh yeah, as a personal note, the artwork with Batman is my favorite, ha ha! Please let me know which one you like the best by commenting down below, thanks.

Fine Art: BATMAN AND ROBIN Pop Painting By Ron English!

Anyone who knows me knows that I'm a HUGE Fan of Fine Art, or any kind of art really! One of my favorite "Modern Day" Pop Artists is a guy named Ron English. He uses a lot of Pop Culture references in his work & sometimes he's very political. He's becoming quite popular so many readers might already know about him, great stuff!! Here's one of his Pop Art paintings showing a middle-aged Batman & pre-adolescent Robin. ( Robin is smoking, ha ). Every time I see this painting it cracks me up, Ha Ha! Plus, it's a well-executed piece of ART. If you'd like to see more work by this guy be sure to check out his website:

RON ENGLISH Modern Day POP ARTIST Batman Painting

I'm a really HUGE FAN of a modern day Pop Artist named RON ENGLISH. He's a very talented guy who uses pop culture imagery in a very subversive way. Most of the time is work is kinda political & might be saying some hard truths about how evil large companies are. Companies like McDonalds, Wal-Mart, Disney, etc.. are all spoofed by him sometimes. He also works in many mediums. His 4 major areas are paintings, prints, "fake" billboards, & even plastic toy action figures. The image up above shows one of his paintings with Batman & another popular icon : Richie Rich. This a really large painting with great graphics ( Click on the small pic above to see a larger photo ). I thought I would feature it here because I guess it's Batman related, plus it's cool!! Be sure to research this guy & check out his other artwork. You'll be glad you did. Remember to check out the BAT-BLOG ARCHIVES for more Batman-Related ART!

POP CULTURE Inspired Artwork Paintings BATGIRL ROBIN & GREEN HORNET!

Last week I was surfing thru the internet enjoying some cool webpages about art galleries & stuff. When all of a sudden I came across this one artist's page who does POP ART style paintings that are totally inspired from 1960's Pop Culture. The artist's name is Tommy Kane ( I don't think he's related to Bob Kane, ha ha ) & if you like his work then do a Google Search, beautiful stuff!! All of them were really great but I had to share these three with my readers because they are sort of Batman-Related. Well, one of them is the Green Hornet but that TV Show was on at the same time as Batman, so there! Be sure to check the BAT-BLOG ARCHIVES for many more Batman-inspired ART!
