BATMAN COVERS: THE NEW YORKER Magazine "Eustace Tilley" Contest
Every year The NEW YORKER Magazine has a contest where they ask their readers to submit parody covers of the very first issue. Ya see, when the magazine first appeared in 1925 they had a character on the cover named Eustace Tilley ( shown above ). Since then, he has become their iconic trademark character. Personally, this mag is one of my all-time favorites. You really don't have to live in New York to enjoy it but they do cover all the major arts & culture events. It's really great. Anyway, their contest is going on right now & a few people have submitted "Batman-related" covers. One of them is the "Heath Ledger" Joker from the Dark Knight movie. I totally cracked up when I first saw it, ha ha! The 2nd one is The Penguin with a look that's closer to the comic book or animated series. They're both really great & I wanna wish those 2 artists the best of luck. There are some other ones ( not Batman ) that are pretty cool so if you're a New Yorker Fan then check out their website.
