Exclusive 1966 BATMAN MOVIE WALLPAPER - Illustration Art By Christopher Franchi

The Bat-Blog was recently blessed with a preview of a brand-new illustration by famed Graphic Designer Christopher Franchi. He's the Art Director for Metaluna 5 Media, which handles a lot of licensed properties like: KISS, Bettie Page, Alice Cooper, Star Trek, Superman, Spawn, Peanuts, Evil Dead, Betty Boop and the list goes on & on. Here is an EXCLUSIVE & Super-Awesome 1966 BATMAN WALLPAPER Chris created for the BAT-BLOG! Well, he did all the artwork & I put the Bat-Blog Logo on it, ha! Now, of course, this image relates to the 1960's BATMAN MOVIE because it shows Lee Merriwether as Catwoman. Plus, it's got the other Super-Evil Villains: The Joker ( Cesar Romero ), The Penguin ( Burgess Meredith ), The Riddler ( Frank Gorshin ), and the Hero himself, BATMAN ( Adam West )! The artwork is extremely amazing! The illustrations were all done on Cold-Press Art Board with Gouache and Colored Pencil. Then, they were scanned and assembled digitally. I like how each character has their own colored-outline, to make them sort of pop-off the page. There is also that "light ray" effect that's pretty freakin' cool!! ( Thanks Christopher, I know everybody is going to totally love this incredible Bat-Art!! )

Billy's BATMAN LIVE WORLD ARENA TOUR Adventure in the UK

Last week, in the UK, the BATMAN LIVE World Arena Tour had started & ever since then we have got a ton of personal reports. The good news, all the reviews are really positive. I've been keeping up with this show from the beginning & have been kinda skeptical. I mean, they were either going to make this show amazing or it would totally bomb. Luckily, it's a great event, whew! Here are a few photos sent in by our friend Billy, who is lucky enough to live in the UK. He said the show was totally great! Now, at the show he only had a camera phone but he did manage to get a few nice pics.



In the 1st one we get a really good look at the costumes for Batman and Robin, nice. Next, is a scene where a HUGE Joker Hot Air Balloon appears on stage! Then, the last 2 show the giant-sized bat-shaped video screen. I've heard that this is used to great effect for making transitions to other locations. Plus, it gave the show a great visual effect, like seeing tons of Bats flying across Gotham City or the Batmobile driving through the city. Oh yeah, in the last photo you can see a photo of our friend Billy. Yes, photographic proof that he was there, ha!

BATMAN WALLPAPERS OF THE JOKER - Wacky Wallpaper Wednesday!

Here are 2 Cool Wallpaper Backgrounds of THE JOKER that were submitted by some extremely awesome Bat-Blog Fans! the 1st one is a photo taken the other night at the BATMAN LIVE event in the UK. It was shot by our friend Billy. This is a stage prop where a giant-size JOKER HEAD comes out on stage. The Joker's eyeballs, teeth, & tongue are actually real people and they all tumble out at once, it's a pretty cool visual effect! Next is a Tribute to Brian Bolland's BATMAN: THE KILLING JOKE Graphic Novel. This was sent in by a Graphic Artist named Chris Bacon. He took some classic artwork and gave it a whole new look. A Few Brand-New BATMAN TOYS & MERCHANDISE For 2011

Here's a quick post to share some photos of some Brand-New BATMAN Toys that are in stores now. The 1st pic is the 2011 MONSTER JAM BATMOBILE TRUCK by Mattel. It's HUGE! We're talking 1:24 Scale. Plus, it has a Die-Cast Metal Body...cool!



Next up is a very strange set of new toys. Fisher Price will be releasing these DC SUPER FRIENDS Little People Figures. These are made for Toddlers ( ages 1 to 4), but I know Adult Toy Collectors are gonna want these too. Shown here is the BATMAN & JOKER Set. Plus a new Batmobile & Joker Car! There will be many more figures, vehicles, & playsets. Yes, we're all gonna need a second or third job to buy all the cool Bat-Stuff in 2011, ha!

Ryan's BATMAN-INSPIRED TATTOO ART Photos

Long time Fans of the Bat-Blog know we like to feature photos of amazing BATMAN TATTOO ART every now & then. It's always interesting to see what people choose to get inked and, as an art form, it's usually pretty cool. So, here we go! here's some great pics sent in to us by a friend named Ryan. As you can see he has had many different characters done. Most of them are in "The Animated Series" TV Cartoon Style. There's The Joker, Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy, Batman, & a few more. He even got a 70's style Bat-Logo on the top of his hand. Cool! ( Thanks for sharing these Ryan, they're great & sorry it took so long to get them posted ).

Just released in stores right now are some extremely super cool BATMAN SHAKE 'N GO Toy Cars by Fisher-Price! Of course they're a part of the never-ending DC SUPER FRIENDS Toy Line. There's a Brand-New BATMOBILE for Batman, a JOKERMOBILE for Joker, and even a MR. FREEZE CAR too! Our Bat-Reporter Friend, Batmobilly, got some amazing shots the other night while he was shopping. I really like the look of these cars, but the packaging is so beautiful it could make you cry. No, I'm not crying, it's just that some ceiling fan blew some dust in my eye... really. Fisher Price GEO-TRAX DC SUPER FRIENDS Play Sets - GOTHAM CITY & THE JOKER'S LAIR

As an extension of their DC SUPER FRIENDS Toy Line, Fisher Price ( Mattel ) is adding a few New Play Sets with motorized vehicles called "GEO-TRAX". The main component will be the BATCAVE PLAY SET but there will be some extra pieces like these. Shown here are two expansion packs: GOTHAM CITY and The JOKER'S LAIR. They are sort of like Train Sets & each one comes with a vehicle & a figure. The GOTHAM CITY scenery has a bank to rob and a jail to break out of, ha! All of these are made to add to the deluxe BAT-CAVE PLAY SET. You know, to keep growing your collection. They will be sold exclusively at Toys R Us and the Fisher-Price Online Store. The Suggested Retail Price will be around $33.00 each.

Check out these 2 Fun JOKER & HARLEY QUINN Photos: The 1st one was sent to us by a new friend named Patricio who lives in Chile. He recently bought a "foreign copy" of the famous Joker Graphic Novel, "Batman: The Killing Joke". Well, it's not foreign to him, just us comic book collectors in the USA, ha! The neat thing is that in Chile it's titled, "La Broma Asesina". Oh yeah, now how cool is that?! That's awesome!

The next photo is absolutely incredible. This is a BATMAN: ARKHAM ASYLUM Birthday Cake of HARLEY QUINN created by a company called "Mike's Amazing Cakes". The details are insane & it's complete crazy to think that it can all be eaten! I mean, it's an ART Masterpiece. I couldn't eat it, ha!

The Wacky ARTWORK of CHRIS MASON - 1966 BATMAN TV SHOW George Barris Custom Cars Tribute

OK, Even if you're not a BIG FAN of the '66 BATMAN TV Series then you still have to admit that this artwork is pretty AWESOME!! These "1966 BATMAN" Drawings were done by our ultra-talented friend Chris Mason. He was actually commissioned by another friend, Jim Edwards.The 1st one features Batman & Robin, The Boy Wonder ( Adam West & Burt Ward ), riding in the Classic "George Barris" Batmobile! The 2nd one shows The Joker ( Cesar Romero ) in his Jokermobile!! Just in case you're not familiar with this Joker Car, it was featured in the TV show & I posted a reference photo showing how it looks today at the Petersen Automobile Museum in Los Angeles, CA.

NEW BATMAN TOYS in BRAZIL - McDonalds THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD Happy Meal Set ( Mc Lanche Feliz )

Thanks to our good friend Marcio we got some news that, right now in Brazil, they're starting a 2011 BATMAN: THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD Happy Meal Toys Promotion at McDonalds ( In Brazil they call it "Mc Lanche Feliz" ). But the cool thing is that the toys are completely different than the ones we just had here in the USA. For Brazil, it looks like they have gone back to the regular-size toy & there are 4 of them to collect: The PENGUIN in his Penguin-Submarine, a PLASTIC MAN Figure, BATMAN in his BAT-COPTER ( or Bat-Gyro! ), and the JOKER'S Jokermobile Car! New Batman Toys - DC Universe Classics - The Joker & Harley Quinn MAD LOVE Action Figure 2-Pack

Be sure to keep an eye out later this year for Mattel's new DC Universe Classic Action Figure "MAD LOVE" 2-Pack Set featuring the Joker & Harley Quinn. But remember that you won't find these everywhere because they are a Toys-R-Us Exclusive. Something sort of interesting: The position of the characters inside the packaging is based on Alex Ross' iconic Painting "Tango With Evil" ( see pic below ). The figures look great but I love some of the accessories - Harley's Giant-Gun and Hammer, Joker Playing Cards, Joker's Cane & Mallet, plus... a Joker Fish!
