OK, I woke-up this morning to discover that there are even MORE MORE MORE Costume-Mod Skins for Batman: Arkham City! Keeping up with it all is driving me crazy and I predict that there will probably be many more, ha! For now, here are the ones that will be foreign exclusives to certain companies. I would like to add that I think all of these will be made available to everybody in the future. I mean, you know everyone world-wide is going to want each and every Bat-Suit! Here they are -
From left to right: Batman Beyond, The Dark Knight Returns, Batman Earth One, 1970's Batman, and The Animated Series. The last one is the Regular "Arkham City" Version.
For now, the break-down on who is offering these skins is as follows:
ShopTo.net (UK) or Toys ‘R Us (USA) – 1970′s Batman
MightyApe – Batman Beyond, Earth One, The Animated Series
In the video game world there is a sub-culture where some very talented people ( I call them "Artists" ) create what they call "MODS". Basically they create a line of code to give a character or vehicle a whole new look & then they embed that code into the game. In this video we see the main character of "Grand Theft Auto" replaced with Batman & his car is now the Tumbler Batmobile...sweet!
Here's another one where they made the car a 1995 Batmobile:
Yesterday I posted a story about the release of the New LEGO BATMAN Video Game & then later I got an e-mail from a friend named Kev who wrote, "Check this out, I never got into MUGEN, basically its modding a PC Capcom style game engine, replacing sprites, and adding your own characters, effects, etc. I wouldn't mind playing this, Azrael and Catwoman look particularly bad ass". Here's a video:
Kev continues, "I work in the games industry so I'll see if anyone knows more about Mugen and if its easy to sort out, and then see if I can get a copy. I hear its normally download-able easy enough but a bit of a pain to set up. Still, looks like its worth it".
WOW! Thank You Kev! This game looks pretty fun & I really appreciate the links. I know my readers will love this! Even if you're not into retro-video games it's still very cool to see. Just a few of the characters are Azrael, Catwoman, Ra's Al Ghul, Bane...awesome! Thanks again. If anybody is interested here's the dude's website: http://www.scruffydragon.com/
Something I've been trying to learn a little bit about & then share here is a cool thing called Video Game MODS. Basically people have learned how to create 3D characters that they can then use to replace "people" & vehicles in video games. Here are some examples. Up above is a group of amazing looking MOD "people" who are Batman-related characters. ( Click the small picture to reveal a HUGE photo )! There's Robin, Batgirl, Penguin, The Joker, Catwoman, Two-Face, Riddler, and of course, Batman ( 4 versions )! The Batman versions include: Modern Day, Beyond, Movie, & my favorite, Adam West! Also shown are some VEHICLE MODS of the Batmobiles ( many versions ), Bat-Jet, Bat-Plane, Bat-Bikes, Bat-Boat, & Bat-Copters. My top 2 favorite vehicles here are the Retro 30's Batmobile & the 1966 TV Show Batcopter ...Sweet! Anyways, you take these mods & replace the code in your video game & then this is what appears. I've seen video where people have done this & it's crazy! It's like a whole new game & looks really really cool. Now, a friend to the Bat-Blog sent us a link that is to a MODS Message Board for the people who are really into this. If you'd like more information I suggest going there. Anybody else who's into this please send me more info to share, thanks.
In the gaming world there are super computer-nerds who create what are called "mods". I mean PC-Nerd in a good way :) Anyway, they create what is called a "MOD" & basically it's some code that changes the look of a character in a PC video game. In this video it shows GRAND THEFT AUTO - VICE CITY where they have replaced some characters with Batman & Joker. They even made a mod for one of the cars that is the Batmobile. Now this GTA video is just an example. Please don't e-mail me wanting to know where these mods are because I don't know.
