A friend at MySpace, named Chuck, sent us this really awesome photo of his recent Halloween costume. This year he was "All-Star Batman"! I think it looks great Chuck, thanks for letting us know about it, I appreciate that. If any other readers of the Bat-Blog have any photos they would like to share then please send them today. Our e-mail button is ALWAYS on the top right-hand side of this page, thanks.
OK, every week we post 2 brand-new, very cool, Batman Wallpapers so here we go! The 1st one uses Golden Age 1940's Batman & Robin imagery & we even added the classic Bat-Blog logo. Think of it as a promo! The 2nd desktop wallpaper features the artwork for the new comic book cover to All-Star Batman & Robin, The Boy Wonder. We hope you like at least one of these, ha ha! If not, be sure to click the link button down below for many more examples...there's gotta be one you really love!!
Here's an amazing "source photo" by Jim Lee. It shows how he took a digital photo of a toy motorcycle to help work out perspective issues on a major splash-page for an All-Star Batman & Robin, The Boy Wonder comic book he drew. The finished pencil art shows The Black Canary on her motorcycle tearing through Gotham City. I thought it was really cool to compare them & had to share it.
OK, I'll probably do another posting later today but right now I'm way too busy so I thought that since it's Wednesday & that's the day we post 2 new Batman Wallpapers that I would post 3 to make up for a lack of posting early this morning. So, here we go! The 1st one is one I made last night using the graphic art for the cover to the soon-to-be-released "All-Star Batman & Robin, The Boy Wonder" comic book. Whew, that comic has the longest title in history, ha! The 2nd background is one created by our friend "Bacon" who does some most excellent graphic art designs. It's a basic Bat-Symbol Logo but done with an industrial grunge look...sweet! The 3rd one is also a Bat-Blog Reader contribution ( Bat-Blog Readers Rule! ). This was was made by "Pastor" & it's an elegant Bat-Symbol logo done in shades of black & white...nice! I hope you guys like some of these, you better, ha ha!
This video shows a guy who finally got his long-awaited first tattoo: the Batman emblem logo. He is a die-hard Batman fan and has wanted this tattoo for a long time now. Samantha Bliss is the tattoo artist and you can check out her work at: http://www.tattoobliss.net
Every loyal Bat-Blog Reader knows that I love ART! I love all kinds of art: Fine Art, Commercial Art, Graphic Art, Comic Book Art...etc! The other day I came across a promotional page for Shawn Surface. He runs a studio called SURFACE ART STUDIOS. His artwork is pretty amazing & rendered with clean lines that are very realistic looking. He has a neat personal style. The cool thing I found out is that he is available for commissions at both his website & the many Comic Book Conventions he does. Shown up above are just a few examples of his awesome artwork. If ya wanna see more then be sure to check out his site & if you talk with him be sure to mention the Bat-Blog sent ya! The graphic-logo down below is "clickable". So, Click It!
Here's the Neal Adams cover art for ALL STAR BATMAN & ROBIN, THE BOY WONDER # 8! It's so exciting to see Neal doing Batman again!! When you 1st look at it you see a stressed out Joker but if you look close enough you can find a hidden picture of Batman, sort of an optical illusion...cool huh?! This will be a special variant cover for ALL-STAR BATMAN AND ROBIN, THE BOY WONDER # 8, Due in stores on November 28th, 2007. Don't miss out, order your copy today!!
Neal Adams doesn't need ANY introductions. This famous comic book artist is a living legend, an icon! His work in silver age comics is considered to be classic. His heyday was in the 1970's when he drew Batman, Deadman, Green Lantern, & Green Arrow. Back then he even created the character R'as AlGhul who later became a main villain in the Batman Begins movie. His portrait is shown in this vintage pinback button by Denis Kitchen. I also thought I would show a more recent photo. Here he is sketching at a comic book convention. Now the whole reason for this post was that I had an advance copy of Adams' artwork for All Star Batman & Robin, The Boy Wonder #8 ( Due out Nov 28th ) which I had posted right here for a few days. Well, at his son's request I took it down because he was a little freaked out, he said & I quote, "I do have a favor to ask. Neal is my father and he just finished a new Batman cover for DC. Somehow you got a copy of that art on your site. The Joker head with Batman's head over it. The thing is, we promised DC that we wouldn't post any images of the cover, and I have no idea how you got a copy of the scan of it. My worry is that DC might think we've been releasing the image. They did, however, give us permission to show it at the National convention on the 16th. I was hoping you wouldn't mind taking that image down until the 16th?". Well, this is no problem at all. I'm kinda bummed out that my "scoop" is getting burned but out of respect for Mr.Adams I'm taking it down until the 16th. Hey DC, I did not get this scan thru Mr. Adams or any of his staff. Be sure to return to the Bat-Blog on the 16th to see this amazing artwork. ( Neal Adams is drawing Batman again!! ).
Got this from a friend, an advance photo of the cover to ALL STAR BATMAN & ROBIN # 9! This, of course, is the original comic book artwork pencils of Jim Lee. It's sort of an homage to the Golden Age cover to Batman #9 by Jack Burnley, Ssssweet!!
Here at the Bat-Blog, every Wednesday, we post 2 fresh NEW Batman Wallpapers you can use as a background in a MySpace layout or just to brighten your PC desktop. This time I thought I would go with a "Robin Theme". The 1st wallpaper graphic is taken from a new Batman & Robin Poster you can buy at your local comic book shop. It features art work by Jim Lee! The colors are bright & sharp, very nice quality. The 2nd wallpaper is a cool photograph of the actor who played Robin in the Batman Fan-Made Film titled GRAYSON. It's a modern-day story about Dick Grayson taking over after Batman has been killed. If you have never seen the movie trailer for this it's pretty amazing. remember to check back with us later because we're gonna post it here.
HELP SPREAD THE WORD! Please put the JOKER Banner ( The Dark Knight Movie ) seen above on your MySpace Layout, Blog, or Webpage!! Just copy the code below & paste to your profile! Thank You!
Here's a nice photo of an original piece of comic book art by Jim Lee from All-Star Batman & Robin's 1st issue. This is page 4 & features a lovely girl. I know the comic-nerds are gonna hate this!! ( I mean "comic-nerds" in a good way, ha ha ). The actual comic book page is featured on the right, for comparison. Please be sure to click on it to see the details, nice work!!
OK, here at the BAT-BLOG we seriously LOVE the original comic book art work of Jim Lee. His attention to detail is insane & nobody draws buildings as realistically as he does. He is an extremely talented artist & from what we have heard a pretty nice guy, very down-to-earth. Personally, I like the little touches he adds like the waffle-pattern on the bottom of Batman's boots or the way Batman will have 5 O'Clock shadow. I mean, hey, if he's chasing the Joker for 6 days who has time to shave?! Ha Ha. Up above are Jim Lee's pencils for the covers to ALL-STAR BATMAN & ROBIN # 6 & # 7. We love seeing the Black Canary character again & that Batgirl is pretty sweet too!
Be sure to click on the pictures above for much larger, sharper, photos. Also, remember to check the BAT-BLOG ARCHIVES for way more Batman art work from Jim Lee, Neal Adams, Jim Aparo, Dick Sprang, Bob Kane, Mike Grell, etc...
Here's the original artwork for the cover to ALL STAR BATMAN & ROBIN #5. They did a double cover for this comic book & one is drawn by Frank Miller while the other one, this one, was done by Jim Lee ( I like the Jim Lee one better, just my opinion ). This comic has great art work & a pretty good story but a lot of fans are kinda mad because of the way DC Comics have been handling this title. Issues 1 thru 4 had some small problems with staying on schedule but it was a whole year before #5 came out. But, from what I have read at some of the Message Boards, this issue is really great. This comic book is in stores right now so you should check it out before it sells out. I haven't read it yet but the art is top notch.
