NEW BATMAN FINE ART PRINT - Tribute To Dick Sprang & Carmine Infantino

Awhile back, right here on the Bat-Blog, we featured some amazing artwork by an Artist named Christopher Franchi. He did this piece that combined a classic iconic image of Batman and Robin, by Carmine Infantino, & he recreated it in the drawing style of Golden Age Comic Book Artist Dick Sprang. I mean, if you're familiar with both of these Artists you can see the combination and it's an extremely awesome image. Well, Chris got it licensed by DC Comics & now it's a Limited Edition Fine Art Print ( only 75 will be made, so, very limited ). It's pretty BIG, measuring about 24" X 36" and is printed on a sturdy, high quality, card stock. It is also signed by the Artist. The thing is, it's now on eBay & I wanted to share this with my Readers because I know a lot of people will want one! For more information, just CLICK HERE!

BATMAN ART - Comic Book Cover Done in Stained Glass

A Friend shared this link with me the other day where it shows an Artist's work that is completely amazing. This guy has recreated a bunch of Vintage Comic Book Covers in Stained Glass. The effect is pretty cool! His name is Brandon Barker & here is his tribute to Detective Comics #31, which first appeared in 1939 & is a total classic. I mean, it's actually an icon! The story of this book was titled "Batman Verses The Vampire ( Part 1 )" & was the 1st introduction of the "Mad Monk" Villain Character. To check out other work by this Glass Artist just click HERE!

OK, if you're hitting the Comic Book Shop today then you need to keep an eye out for this baby! This is the cover to the "DC Retroactive 1970's BATMAN #1" One-Shot. I love the old DC Comics logo, & speaking of that, I also love the 70's BATMAN logo too ( Click on the above graphic for a larger photo ). You see, these are the comic books I grew-up with & it's just nice to see them again. Of course back then they only cost 25 cents, "Holy Inflation, Batman!" This one-shot issue features both a brand new story and a classic story by Len Wein, originally published in the 1970s. It also features art by Tom Mandrake, John Calnan and Dick Giordano.

Oh yeah, for a teaser where you can read the 1st few pages for free, click HERE!

I'm sad to report that Gene Colan has passed away. He was 84 years old. Most Comic Book Collectors & Fans will for sure know who this incredible Artist is because he worked in the business for many years. He co-created Blade ( The Marvel Comics character that became a Wesley Snipes movie ). His work on Howard The Duck & Daredevil is classic pop culture. I fondly remember his artwork from my childhood. He drew Batman comics & covers with great skill & I have always been a huge fan of his work. He will be missed. Thank you for your wonderful contributions Mr. Colan, RIP.

Custom Art BATMAN LOGO SYMBOLS Metal Sculpture

The BAT-BLOG recently had a fan named Thomas send us these pictures to share and they're pretty interesting. Thomas has a friend who is a Sculptor & Product Designer who does custom artwork with metal. Thomas said, "I always thought it was pretty cool and he made really awesome stuff, but I never thought it would be anything I'd want to buy... until NOW!" Ha! What he's talking about is this amazing BATMAN SYMBOL LOGO Wall Relief Sculpture. Meaning, that it has a sort of 3D quality about it. Batman Fans will all know the symbols used here. Basically we got the "Classic Yellow Oval", then the more "Modern-Day" version. Then on top of that is the current logo used for the movie franchise...WOW! I gotta say that this piece of art is really cool & looks extremely well-done. If you enjoy CUSTOM ART, then please be sure to visit the Artist's website. His name is Elliott Bowser & you can see his stuff HERE! ( Thanks Thomas )

THE JOKER AND HARLEY QUINN Fun Photos & News

Check out these 2 Fun JOKER & HARLEY QUINN Photos: The 1st one was sent to us by a new friend named Patricio who lives in Chile. He recently bought a "foreign copy" of the famous Joker Graphic Novel, "Batman: The Killing Joke". Well, it's not foreign to him, just us comic book collectors in the USA, ha! The neat thing is that in Chile it's titled, "La Broma Asesina". Oh yeah, now how cool is that?! That's awesome!

The next photo is absolutely incredible. This is a BATMAN: ARKHAM ASYLUM Birthday Cake of HARLEY QUINN created by a company called "Mike's Amazing Cakes". The details are insane & it's complete crazy to think that it can all be eaten! I mean, it's an ART Masterpiece. I couldn't eat it, ha!

World-Wide Batmania!

Shown here, for your viewing pleasure, are 3 cool foreign Batman Comic Books. The 1st one is Arabic, the 2nd is Italian, & the 3rd is English ( but from the UK ). All of these are vintage comics & not modern-day. So, I'm curious. Does anyone out there live outside the USA where there are "foreign language" bat-books currently being published? If so, then please let us know. Also, if you have some photos of what they look like then that would be great too, thanks!

There hasn't been much news or hype about this UK event lately so I thought this image would be fun!

New BATMAN AND ROBIN Comic Book Cover is Crazy!

I mean "crazy" in a good way, ha! Here is the extremely surrealistic cover art by Chris Burnham for BATMAN AND ROBIN # 26, due in August. The main story involves the Dynamic Duo going to France because lunatics have escaped from Le Jardin Noir, the French equivalent to Gotham City's Arkham Asylum. The story was written by David Hine and illustrated by Greg Tocchini. But check out this wacky-cool cover!! ( Click on it for a larger, more detailed, version ) It looks like something by Rene Magritte or Salvadore Dali!!

DC RETROACTIVE - NORM BREYFOGLE & ALAN GRANT Are Making BATMAN COMICS Again!

OK, Batman Comic Book Fans from the late 80's & early 90's will totally remember the artwork of Norm Breyfogle. He drew the character from 1987 to 1993. Well, DC Comics is bringing him back for a one-shot called "DC RETROACTIVE: BATMAN, The 90's". Now, don't look for it real soon, it doesn't hit the shops until August 17th, ha! But it should be pretty cool & well worth the wait because they're also bringing back the same Writer from that period, Alan Grant! Both Norm & Alan will revisit a pair of villains closely associated with their original run on The Caped Crusader: The Ventriloquist and Scarface! Released on a technicality one year after being arrested, this bizarre duo is determined to reclaim their status in the upper echelon of Batman’s Rogues Gallery. This “lost tale” of the era spins directly out of DETECTIVE COMICS #613, reprinted in this issue!
