Cool Vintage-Style BATMAN 3D T-Shirt on Sale at JC Penney

This is just a post to share some news I heard last night. The rumor goes that J.C. Penney stores have an extremely cool Batman T-Shirt that borrows graphics from the Vintage 1953 BATMAN 3-D Comic Book. I think it's only sold there as I have not seen it anywhere else. Plus, right now it's on clearance & you can get it for $9.99. I totally love the Retro-style graphics on this, it's great! Be sure to look at the actual comic book cover for reference, nice!

Vintage 1950's BATMAN Comic Books From Argentina!

This group of photos is just a very nice assortment of some foreign BATMAN ( El Hombre Murcielago ) comic books you could have found in Argentina, in the 1950's. Oh man, I'm totally lovin' the vintage-style artwork here. I also like that they are in a strange "landscape" format...beautiful!

VIDEO REVIEW - The 1950's BATMAN BATMOBILE CAR Model Kit

Here's an interesting video I came across recently. It features Chris Gierke from the MONSTER MODEL REVIEW website giving a review on the BATMAN 1950's BATMOBILE Car 1:24 Scale Die-Cast Model Kit by Johnny Lighting, which that company made in 2002. I remember when this product originally came out & it was actually kind of hard to find at the retail level. This style of the Batmobile has always been a favorite of mine & I wanted to get this kit, but never did. So now it's on my future "want list" & someday I'll get around to buying one. In the mean time i can just drool over this video.

VINTAGE BATMAN TOYS: Johnny Lightning DC Comic Book 1960's Diecast 1/24 Batmobile Model Kits

I thought, for this post, we would revisit a cool Batman Toy from the recent past. In 2002 a toy company called "Johnny Lightning" was making a few Batman-related items that were extremely cool! Now, they made some diecast toys of the Batmobile vehicles of course but they also made these small 1:24 scale metal "screw-together" Model Kits. There were 4 in the complete set: The 1960's Batmobile Car, The 1950's Batmobile, The 60's Batboat, & my favorite, the Bat-Gyro! I remember when these came out & I thought it was so cool that they did such an obscure vehicle as the Bat-Gyro, ha ha! I mean, you never NEVER see this being made! Now another weird thing too was that these were kinda hard to find. I never really saw them much in the usual retail stores like Target & Wal-Mart but you could always find them at Hobby Specialist shops. I guess because they were more like model kits & not actual toy cars. But anyway, they're just great. Now for reference photos I could only find 3 of the original boxes, & I'm missing the one for the Bat-Gyro, but you get the idea. Plus, all 4 vehicles are shown here & you can see their TOTAL beauty.

Vintage 1950's BATMAN Comic Book Cover # 115

Here's a really cool vintage comic book cover to Batman #115. This issue was released in 1958, Batman's wacky 50's period. It appears he has been transported to a land of giants, ha ha! I love the old advertisement on the back. Be sure to click on the small graphic up above for a larger, more readable, version.

Free JOKER PLAYING CARD & 50's BAT-MITE Desktop Wallpapers: Made By Logan!

Every Wednesday here at the Bat-Blog it's "Wacky Wallpaper Wednesday" & for the last few years I have been creating them all by myself. Well, a new dynamic, that I really love, is that for a few months now a lot of Bat-Blog Readers are contributing them. Here's an example: Our friend "Logan" has created BOTH of these wonderful wallpapers for you to use to decorate your computer's desktop or as a background in a MySpace Layout. The 1st one is a variation on the famous "Joker Playing Card". It's got the phrase, "Here's My Card", which we all know now as a famous line spoken by Heath Ledger's Joker in the new Dark Knight movie trailer. The 2nd one kinda through me off guard a little bit ( Meaning, I was totally surprised )...it's BAT-MITE! As a true Batman Fan I really love this wacky character. I know he's kinda silly but he's from the crazy 1950's era & has a lot of nostalgic appeal. Plus, the graphic is pretty cool! Please leave a comment down below & let Logan know which one you like the best. Also, if you have some graphics ( or a suggestion ) for wallpaper then please shoot us an e-mail. Our "e-mail button" is on the top right-hand side of this page. One last thing, Thank You Logan for sending us these backgrounds...GOOD JOB!

BATMAN JONES Classic 1950's Comic Book Cover!

In the 1950's DC Comics created a very short lived character named BATMAN JONES. I mean, very short, like only one issue, Batman #108. But the funny thing is that this guy has recently become sort of a cult figure among Batman Fans. I think it has to do with his cool customized bicycle! The basic story is this newspaper delivery boy was so engrossed with Batman, from reading alot of news stories of his adventures, that he became sort of a Junior Crimefighter & created the Bat-Bike & Batman Costume. Here at the BAT-BLOG we love this guy!

Batman Comic Book & Magazines from Argentina

Here's some really cool vintage Batman items you don't see alot of here in the USA. There are some EL TONY Magazines with beautiful color photo covers of Adam West, Burt Ward, Frank Gorshin, & other fine actors from the classic 1960's TV Series. Then, in the next photo, is a really RARE comic book in a strange horizontal-format. It's dated ©1957 & I love the wacky picture of Batman as a "real person" wearing a mask, a very nice graphic! Be sure to click on the photos up above so you can see the larger details, they're pretty cool. Also, Be sure to check the BAT-BLOG ARCHIVES for many more wonderful Batman Toys & Collector's Items from our friends in Argentina!

RARE Vintage 1950's Batman & Robin Ingersoll Pocket Watch

Here's a nice reference photo of the SUPER-RARE 1957 Batman & Robin Pocket Watch made by Ingersoll. I love the vintage graphics & it's really unusual to find ANY Batman merchandise pre-1966. Most Batman collectibles start from 1966 & it's really hard to find anything from the 1940's & 50's. Ingersoll was a classic watch company known for making great character watches. In fact, they almost went out of business during the depression except they had a great idea to make the very 1st Mickey Mouse Watch, the 1st character watch! The sales of that item went thru the roof & saved the company! This one featuring Batman & Robin is extremely RARE & sought out by both Batman Fans & Character Watch Collectors as a holy grail. They usually bring about $500+ in auction, loose. Be sure to check previous posts in the BAT-BLOG ARCHIVES for many more Rare & Unusual Vintage Batman Items & Toys like Ideal, Mego, Kenner, Transogram, Marx, Corgi, etc...
