Costume Tutorial - How To Make Batman Gloves ( Adam West Style )

I recently came across a wonderful blog called "Sewing Cafe". It's a personal site of an Artist named Lynne Williams. There, she posts a lot of "How To" Articles & Tutorials on Craft Sewing Projects. This girl is an expert at making "Adam West-Style" Costumes. Just like the one seen on the 1966 BATMAN TV Show. The cool thing is she shares a lot of this information on her website. So, if you're in the market to create a cool new bat-suit, check it out! You can visit her site by clicking HERE!

The Dark Knight HEATH LEDGER / JOKER FAN in Bulgaria!!

The other day I received an e-mail from a Bat-Blog Reader in Bulgaria! His name is Victor & he did this amazing Heath Ledger Joker make-up for when he went to go see The Dark Knight Batman movie. The funny thing about his e-mail is the way he assured me that the "blood" on the knife was really red paint he put on there. OK, Victor, I don't think you are really a murderer, ha ha ha! Thanks for sending this awesome photo & you did a really great job on the costume...an AWESOME JOB!

The Joker's Weapon in The Dark Knight Batman Movie ( Heath Ledger ).

I know that later this year there are gonna be a lot of people working on some very cool costumes (for either comic book conventions or Halloween parties) of The Joker so I thought I would do this post to explain one of the weapon-props the Joker ( Heath Ledger ) uses in the movie. This is the famous scene in the movie trailer where the Joker is seen holding a gun. It's the gun he's shooting when he says, "HIT ME!". This weapon is a Smith & Wesson M-76 Submachine Gun. They make replicas which you can probably find on eBay. Or, if you have a small budget, just carry a knife. It's the preferred weapon of The Joker anyway!

Vintage Photo: BATMAN AND ROBIN HOME-MADE COSTUMES Circa 1972

Another cool Bat-Blog Reader sent in this very awesome vintage family photo yesterday. His name is Brian & he wrote, "I love your blog. You do a great job of covering fun, quirky stuff and all the different eras of Batman. I've been an avid Batman collector for just over 20 years and have been a fan of the character as far back as I can remember. As an adult, I had the opportunity to add a very small thumbprint on the Batman mythos as the illustrator of Batman: Absolution. Absolution was a graphic novel that DC published about 5 years ago or so. At any rate, I've loved seeing the vintage photos of people dressed in Batman costumes. So, I thought I'd send one of my own. Enclosed is a photo of myself as Robin and my buddy Paul as Batman from 1972 in Aberdeen, South Dakota. We look pretty pathetic in our costumes we made ourselves but we sure thought we were "dead ringers" for the Caped Crusaders. :) Keep up the great work on the blog. It's always a nice "pick-me-up" to check each day and see what's new." Ha Ha! Thanks for the kind words Brian & I seriously love this photo! It's kinda funny that you say you guys look pathetic, that's NOT true! Even though they are home-made & not "Hollywood quality" doesn't mean they're not great, they are great!! It looks like a lot of love went into making them & they are pretty accurate too. Looking at you as Robin I gotta crack-up about the "towel around the neck"...we ALL did that as kids, funny! I really love this picture & appreciate you sending it. Thank You. Ha Ha, I know the readers are gonna love it...it's great! By the way, I might have to check out that Batman: Absolution graphic novel you mentioned, sounds cool.

HEROES 4 KIDS : A New Children's Charity Needs Your Help!

Since it's the holiday season I thought I would bring up a really great children's organization called HEROES FOR KIDS. This is a group of people who not only have some incredible Superhero Costumes but use those suits for good. Heroes for Kids' aim is to provide an unforgettable experience for the young and the old alike. As a team, their goal is to help raise funds for the sick and underprivileged by appearing at fund-raising events as a voluntary service. They're just now getting started but I think it's a great idea. In the photo here you can see the "Batman Guy" but there are many others including The Joker, The Amazing Spiderman, Green Goblin, Sith Lord, Superman, Supergirl, Iron Man, Elektra, Daredevil, Jedi Knight, & more. Here's a link to check them out & please try to help if you can, it's a good cause.

Video: Cosplay Batgirl Custom Super Hero Costume

Here's a really great example of the kind of high-quality costumes that some serious Batgirl / Batman Fans are able of making. This costume is a 1966 Batman TV Series version, just like Yvonne Craig wore in the classic TV show....enjoy!

Cutest Batgirl Costume....Ever!!

While cruising through MySpace the other day I came across a family's site where they are all into wearing superhero costumes, how cool is that! I mean the Dad is Batman, the Mom is Batwoman, & they even dress their little kid as Batgirl. Now all three costumes are really great, extremely well made. They all go to Comic Book Conventions & stuff like that. But, when I saw the daughter dressed as Batgirl I knew it had to be posted here, ha ha. She's so extremely precious, her costume is super-great, & the expression on her face is priceless....she looks so happy, beaming with joy & that's very cool! I knew BAT-BLOG readers would just love this little kid so here she is. She's so cute!
