The Bat-Blog was recently blessed with a preview of a brand-new illustration by famed Graphic Designer Christopher Franchi. He's the Art Director for Metaluna 5 Media, which handles a lot of licensed properties like: KISS, Bettie Page, Alice Cooper, Star Trek, Superman, Spawn, Peanuts, Evil Dead, Betty Boop and the list goes on & on. Here is an EXCLUSIVE & Super-Awesome 1966 BATMAN WALLPAPER Chris created for the BAT-BLOG! Well, he did all the artwork & I put the Bat-Blog Logo on it, ha! Now, of course, this image relates to the 1960's BATMAN MOVIE because it shows Lee Merriwether as Catwoman. Plus, it's got the other Super-Evil Villains: The Joker ( Cesar Romero ), The Penguin ( Burgess Meredith ), The Riddler ( Frank Gorshin ), and the Hero himself, BATMAN ( Adam West )! The artwork is extremely amazing! The illustrations were all done on Cold-Press Art Board with Gouache and Colored Pencil. Then, they were scanned and assembled digitally. I like how each character has their own colored-outline, to make them sort of pop-off the page. There is also that "light ray" effect that's pretty freakin' cool!! ( Thanks Christopher, I know everybody is going to totally love this incredible Bat-Art!! )
I thought I would experiment with a new idea of, each week, posting a cool Batman item I come across on eBay, that is still for sale. Now, this is NOT an invitation for eBay Slaves to spam me with what they're selling, ha! ( That's not gonna happen! ) I'll just find something fun & post it on my own. This item is pretty cool. Here's a Framed Color Photo of Batman and Robin from the Classic 1960's TV Series. It's signed by both Actors from the BATMAN TV Show, Adam West & Burt Ward. It's a photo you don't see that often & the signatures look really good. Here's a link to check it out, just click HERE!
The Official HOLLYWOOD WALK OF FAME Website has announced that, in 2012, Adam West will be getting a STAR on the Walk of Fame!! It will be awarded for the TELEVISION category, which is great, because it sort of relates to the 1966 BATMAN TV Show. You might remember reading about this battle to get a star here at the Bat-Blog. All along we have tried to be as supportive as we could & we're really proud of this announcement. So, since we'll have to wait till next year to see his star I thought I would post this mock-up photo I made ( Ha Ha! ) and please enjoy this video, that was one of many, to garner support. Also, CONGRATS ADAM WEST...You Deserve It!!
MEET BATMAN AND ROBIN, THE BOY WONDER, LIVE IN PERSON! The Actors from the Classic 1966 BATMAN TV Show, Adam West and Burt Ward, will be at this years Wizard World Philadelphia Comic Con 2011. The event starts tomorrow, Friday, June 17th & runs the whole weekend. So, if you live near that area then you need to drop by & say, "Howdy!". The convention will also have a ton of Comic Book Artists, who over the years, have worked on a BATMAN title. The list includes: Mike Grell, Carlos Pacheco, Doug “Dougie” Braithwaite, Arthur Suydam, J.G. Jones, Ethan Van Sciver, and Shane Davis. For more info then click HERE!
Oh man, I am so jealous of this photo & proud of it too. The Bat-Blog has a new friend named Drew who really got to meet his favorite superheroes in person! We're talking about Batman and Robin, The Boy Wonder!! Actually, we're talking about Burt Ward and Adam West!! The Actors from the Classic 1966 BATMAN TV Show were at a Comic Book Convention recently where Drew got to take this wonderful photo. Man, what a great pic! Another cool thing is that it is also signed by both guys... this is a complete treasure! Thank you Drew for sharing this, YOU ROCK Dude!!
An online company named STARGREETZ has hired Adam West to make audio recording for eCards, eInvitations, & Ringtones. Yes, you can now get the Original 1966 TV BATMAN to say your name! The messages are custom-tailored for Birthdays, Get Well Wishes, Graduations, etc... It sounds kinda fun. To check it out, click HERE!
Just a friendly reminder that tomorrow, Saturday, May 7th is FREE COMIC BOOK DAY. This is when you can hit your favorite Comic Book Retail Store ( or Public Library, in some cities ) and pick-up some free comics!! Now, this year there will be 2 books you will want to pick-up that are sort of Batman-related. The 1st one is a "Young Justice / Batman: The Brave and The Bold" issue. This book features stories with characters from each Cartoon Network animated TV series. The 2nd one is totally wacky & comes from Bluewater Productions, "The Mis-Adventures of Adam West". Reading it, I know he mentions the Batman character from time to time but it really is more about Mr. West himself. It's kind of wacky too, ha! For a list of ALL the free books they're gonna have be sure to click HERE! Also, while you're there, you can click on a book's cover & then read a sample of it online ( Read some of the "Adam West" one to get an idea of it ).
Here's an interesting video that's a small segment from the EMMY TV LEGENDS series. It's from the Adam West interviews & it's the one where West tell the story of meeting Bob Kane ( Batman Co-Creator )for the first time, it's kinda funny, enjoy!
Holy Pot Roast, Batman! I'm not quite sure if Adam West is just trying to be silly, or if he's a serious cook, but recently he shared one of his favorite recipes for "Black Iron Skillet Farm Bourguignon" and it sounds pretty awesome! Actually, I think he really loves to cook & it's kinda cool that he shares this stuff with his Fans. So, if you're a "Foodie", then you might want to try this sometime for dinner.
Ingredients: - Black iron skillet
- Olive oil
- Chuck roast
- 2 garlic cloves, sliced
- 1 large yellow onion, chopped
- 1 apple, chopped
- 2 pcs of celery, chopped
- 3 carrots (lightly boiled)
- 2 potatoes (lightly boiled)
- 1 c. red wine
- 1 c. green peas (al dente)
- Herbes de Provence or seasoning of choice
- salt & pepper
Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Salt and pepper your chuck roast. Heat up a couple of tablespoons of olive oil in the cast iron skillet and braise the chuck roast. Insert slices of garlic into roast using the tip of a knife to make incisions. Add chopped onions, apple, celery, and cover the whole thing about halfway with hot water. Add a light sprinkling of Herbes de Provence and dash of salt and pepper. The skillet is going to be very heavy so make sure you stretch appropriately before next step. Slip into hot oven and cover in tin foil so everything is nice and cozy and warm. Cook for about 3 hours but keep an eye on it so it doesn't dry out. After about 3 hours, add the lightly boiled (al dente) carrots and potatoes. Arrange them artfully around the roast, add 1 c. of red wine and baste everything. Feel free to sip the wine in between steps. After about 15-20 minutes, pull the piping hot roast out and add al dente peas - find a nice little spot for them in the bourguignon juice. Cook another 15 minutes. Then wrap your chops around the most delicious farm pot roast you've ever had. The nice thing is, if you are alone, you can eat it right out of the skillet. If you don't have a cast iron skillet, you can use any pan that you can also put in the oven but watch it closely as it cooks because the cooking time may vary. I recommend scooping up the juices with a hot, crusty freshly baked baguette.
Here's a brand new "collectible item" for Bat-Fans who love the old 1966 BATMAN TV Show, Adam West & Burt Ward are on the cover of GLOBE! Yes, this week's GLOBE tabloid newspaper has a cover story about "25 Favorite Celebs: Where Are They Now?". The cool thing is that they actually had something nice to say about them, ha! Plus, they put a small color photo of Batman & Robin on the cover! This is in stores right now so if you want one be sure to act quickly.
This photo from Adam West shows what his new dog has been busy doing lately, ha! "Holy Paper Shredder, Batman!"
I recently came across a wonderful blog called "Sewing Cafe". It's a personal site of an Artist named Lynne Williams. There, she posts a lot of "How To" Articles & Tutorials on Craft Sewing Projects. This girl is an expert at making "Adam West-Style" Costumes. Just like the one seen on the 1966 BATMAN TV Show. The cool thing is she shares a lot of this information on her website. So, if you're in the market to create a cool new bat-suit, check it out! You can visit her site by clicking HERE!
I recently came across a very interesting website called DESMOND DOOMSDAY. It's a blog all about the life of William Dozier & his company, Greenway Productions. In Bat-History, he was the Executive Producer/Creator of the 1966 BATMAN TV Show. ( The photo posted here shows him with Actors Adam West & Burt Ward ). He also produced The Green Hornet series and the short-lived Dick Tracy. The blog has a lot of fun photos, video, and interviews. but the best part are all the Audio Clips featuring his voice. You see, he did the voice over work for the Batman TV Show. Stuff like, "Tune In Tomorrow, Same Bat-Time... Same Bat-Channel!" Here's a link to the site, just click HERE!
This TV Commercial for Nestle QUIK Chocolate Milk Drink Mix predates the 1966 Batman television series and is the reason Adam West was offered the role. The dry humor portrayed as Agent Q helped the producers to realize that he may be the perfect actor.
The photo up above of the ADAM WEST STAR on the Hollywood Walk of Fame is fake. I made it using a photo-editing program by typing his name in a gold-colored font on top of a photo of an actual star, why? Because for some reason the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce has, for all these years, denied Adam West of the honor. Well, right now a Film Maker, named James Tooley, is trying to complete a Documentary that will help Mr. West get accepted. But he needs money to finish the project so he started a Kickstarter project to gather donations. If you think West deserves a star then please donate. Donations can be as low as one dollar, but every little bit helps. Also, to see the quality of the "Starring Adam West" Documentary just watch the video down below. Oh yeah, here's the link to Kickstarter, just click HERE!
I totally love this "Mount Batmore" photo because it's both funny & very clever! This is our friend Steve & he took this pic while on vacation in South Dakota. While there, he went to the Mount Rushmore National Memorial. The photo sort of shows what the sculpture would look like if they added "Adam West". Yes, I think we need to start a petition, ha ha! I wanna thank Steve for sharing this wonderful photo and, before I forget, I gotta say that 1966 Bat-Cowl is awesome! As a side note: He says he's going to take a few more pics like this at other famous landmarks... and I can't wait to see them!
OK, here at the Bat-Blog we publish a lot of Batman Tattoo Photos because it's a very fun form of ART & I think they're always interesting to see. But this one is very special to us because the guy who got it said he was inspired to get off his couch & go get inked by reading a few posts here at the Bat-Blog...WOW! We're really honored, seriously! Plus I'm glad that the tattoo work turned out so well, ha! The BATMAN TATTOO we're talking about belongs to a guy named Stu. Of course it's the ADAM WEST version from the 1966 TV Series ( Awesome! ). Stu told us it was inked by Tony Evans of Opulent Ink, Wolverhampton ( in the UK ). Well Stu, please tell Tony we think he did an amazing job! The shading is very well done & it gives this Bat-Tat an almost photo-realistic look, very nice! I mean, it really really looks like WEST!!
