An original production-made complete Batgirl Costume, used by Yvonne Craig in the classic 1966 BATMAN TV Show, will be offered in an online auction soon that will begin on July 30th, 2011. This is the cowl used in the very first episode featuring "Batgirl" and there are many photos of her wearing it. The costume includes: Unitard, Utility Belt, Gloves, Boots and Cape. It will also include paperwork and authentication from Western Costume as well as letters detailing the history of the costume from the original owner. Yvonne Craig examined the costume and told the current owner the story about the cowl. The estimate is between $9,000.00 and $12,000.00 ( I think it should go for more than that, ha! ) For extra information on this item just click HERE!
While surfing through the evil eBay the other day I came across a Graphic Artist selling these BATMAN "I Want You" PSA POSTERS ( Public Service Announcement ). Of course they're all a parody of the classic UNCLE SAM Army Enlistment Propaganda Posters from World War II, but they feature characters from the 1966 BATMAN TV Show! I think they look pretty cool! We get to see Batman ( Adam West ), Robin The Boy Wonder ( Burt Ward ), and Batgirl ( Yvonne Craig ). The funny thing is that the Batgirl Poster says, "I want you to return all your books to Gotham City Public Library". You see, in the television series Batgirl was also Barbara Gordon, who was a Librarian in Gotham, ha ha!
I had to post this graphic image because it's kinda-sorta Batman related, I'll explain later, but the main reason is that it was created by a friend of mine named Rob Kelly & I'm kind of proud about it (is that wrong?). Well, anyways. This is a PSA (Public Service Announcement) POSTER featuring Yvonne Craig. The basic message is "Visit Your Local Library". Of course we all know and love her as the Actress who played Barbara Gordon in the 1960's BATMAN TV series. On that show her character, besides being Batgirl, was also a Librarian. So that does add a little irony to the concept, ha! Now I totally love Libraries more than anything. I visit them at least 3 or 4 times a month, checking out a large amount of books each time. In fact, a lot of Librarians actually know me by name, ha! So I am completely behind this message, "Visit Your Local Library"! One last thing before I end this post, I want to invite everybody to check out Rob's Illustration ART website. There's some really cool stuff there. Just click HERE!
On Wednesday, every week, the Bat-Blog Website posts 2 Free BATMAN Backgrounds. We call it "Wacky Wallpaper Wednesday!" We always try to go with some theme or idea & BATGIRL seemed like a good subject. So, here we go! The 1st image is a close-up shot of a Batgirl Action Figure. It's from when she was in the Animated Series TV Cartoon. I know the image is kinda strange, but please try it as a desktop background, it's actually sort of fun! Now, speaking of TV. The next wallpaper is a publicity photo of Batgirl from the 1960's BATMAN TV Show. Of course this is the Actress Yvonne Craig & she looks totally wonderful in her bat-suit costume, Hubba Hubba! We hope you enjoy these, but if you don't, then we have hundreds more available in our posts from the past. You can click the "More Wallpapers" Link Button down below:
OK, This is sort of a random thing to do but these pics are way too cool not to post. So, here we go! here's some old vintage photos I found from the history of the 1966 BATMAN TV Show that I have never seen before. The 1st one is a "behind the scenes" shot of Yvonne Craig looking super-cute in her skin-tight Batgirl Costume during the filming of the TV Series. The next one is the World Premiere of the BATMAN Movie at the Paramount Theater. It's cool that the pic is in color & I love all the old cars.
Here's a vintage 1960's pin-up photo I found showing a very cute Yvonne Craig at the pool in a bikini swimsuit, hubba hubba! Oh yeah, for the 3 or 4 Bat-Blog Readers who might not know who she is, she played both Batgirl & Barbara Gordon on the 1966 Batman TV Show. Yvonne Craig has a pretty awesome website, if you want to check it out then just click HERE!
ABC News recently ran this story showing Adam West, Burt Ward, Yvonne Craig, Julie Newmar, & Lee Merriwether as they reunite at a Comic Con event in Anaheim, CA. It's an interesting news story about the 1966 BATMAN TV Show but the best thing is seeing them all together again. That, and I know some of the bat-fans wearing the bat-costumes & that's really fun to see!
(( The ABC News video takes awhile to load so please wait a few seconds ))
Whoops! I almost forgot that today is Wacky Wallpaper Wednesday, ha ha! So, here are 2 FREE BATMAN Desktop Backgrounds I'm sure your gonna love. The 1st one is a blast from the past! It's Yvonne Craig as Batgirl on her famous Bat-Cycle from the 1966 TV Series. That show was awesome & so was she. The next one is way more "modern day" since it's the cover art for a very recent Batman title. The Comic Book Artist here is Andy Kubert & this is his version of the Dark Knight. This is also from the current storyline, "The Return of Bruce Wayne"! Please remember to check the BAT-BLOG ARCHIVES for many many more Bat-Wallpapers! Our archives are located on the left side of this page, near the middle...just click on a month / year.
While looking at a current issue of the new DC Comics BATGIRL #4 Comic Book I noticed a phrase in a word bubble spoken by a bad guy that sort of haunted me. I mean, I have heard that phrase before...then I suddenly remembered! Just listen to the music video down below for a clue, ha ha! I think it's kinda cool that they did an homage to 1966 Batman TV Show's Yvonne Craig!!
OK, I thought I would post this early so people could have enough time to save money or make plans. Batman Fans are in for a rare treat next April in California! Wizard World's "Anaheim Comic Con" will have 4 actors from the 1966 Batman TV Show. Be prepared to meet Adam West, Burt Ward, Yvonne Craig, & Julie Newmar! Of course we all know them as Batman, Robin The Boy Wonder, Batgirl, & Catwoman!! Now, Ward & Craig have come out of retirement to do this show so it might be your last chance to meet them both. The convention event will be on April 16-18, 2010 ( Fri-Sat-Sun ). For more information be sure to click HERE!
Hey Kids! It's "Wacky Wallpaper Wednesday" again here at the olde Bat-Blog so I thought it would be fun to go with a BATGIRL THEME! I have always loved this Batman-Family character & the wallpapers I created cover many different versions. There's the Yvonne Craig 1966 Batman TV Show version with her on the Batgirl Bat-Cycle & then a few graphics from various comic books, both vintage & modern. Now, I know ya gotta love at least one of them, ha ha! GO BATGIRL!!
There's a wonderful lady named Yvonne Craig. She's been an actress for a very long time & has had many parts in both Movies & Television. If you're a real Batman Fan ( ha ha ) then you already know who she is. One of her most famous TV roles is that of Batgirl in the 1966 Batman Series. She also played the "Green Orion Slave Girl" on Star Trek. Yeah, you know what I'm talkin' about! Well, she's still bouncing around doing RARE comic book convention appearances from time to time. I met her once at a Sci-Fi Show in Dallas, Texas & she was very polite. One of the things I liked about her right away is that she is very down-to-earth. In other words, she's a Super-Classy Lady! Well, I got something to announce that I am extremely proud of & that is that right NOW the Bat-Blog is a link on her personal website...WOW! It's really an honor, seriously, no kidding! I'm really thankful toward Yvonne Craig & my friend Scott in getting me placed there. The 1966 Batman TV Show was sort of my own personal introduction to "the Batman World" & the series has really meant alot to me over the years. To be connected with the show in this way is just a total joy, really. Oh yeah, I guess I should mention that you should visit her new website!! It's extremely well-designed, tons of pics & cool info, plus she does sell her autographed photos which are cool to have if you're a serious bat-collector.Thank You Batgirl!
Regular Bat-Blog Readers know what day it is, it's "Wacky Wallpaper Wednesday"!! This week I thought I would throw in "something old & something new"! First, the old. What if famous Pop Artist Andy Warhol had done a portrait of Yvonne Craig's Batgirl from the 1966 Batman TV Show? Well, it might look something like this. I seriously love this work of art because I'm a huge Warhol Fan & the graphic artist who made this did an amazing job replicating his special art style ( Thanks to Jim for sending me this pic ). The 2nd one is just as beautiful. This one, showing Heath Ledger's Joker from The Dark Knight Batman movie, was done by a friend named Messenjah-Matt. He likes to manipulate photos he loves & I think he used Adobe Illustrator to alter this famous scene from the film. I have some more of his work that I'll be posting in later posts so please be sure to keep an eye out for those! ( Thank you Matt for letting me use this awesome background...you rock, Sir! )
We post totally brand-new & unique Batman-Themed Desktop Wallpapers here at the Bat-Blog every single Wednesday. We call it "Wacky Wallpaper Wednesday™", ha ha! OK, I know the name is dumb but it's kinda catchy & people remember it easily! This week I thought I would go with a "Pop Art Pin-Up" theme. The 1st one is a re-colored wallpaper of an original painting I did a few years ago. It's an image of Batman kissing a girl. Recently I was goofing around on the internet & saw a device on a blog that showed their recent visitors ( shown below ). It featured people's avatars & their logistic locations. There was a guy from Australia who had used my artwork has his avatar. It was a total shock for me to see this! There's a theory that says "once an image is on the web that it exists forever" because people take it & put it someplace else, then somebody else gets it, & so on...WOW! This was pretty funny for me to see my own artwork, ha ha! OK, sorry to go off, back to the wallpapers. The 2nd & 3rd backgrounds are a black & white publicity photograph of Yvonne Craig as a super-cute "Pin-Up Girlie" model. Of course we all know her as Barbara Gordon / Batgirl from the 1966 Batman TV Show. People have different desktop set-ups so I thought I would make 2 of her, please choose whichever is better for you.
This is kinda sad, ha ha! Last week, and this week too, I forgot to post the 2 BATMAN DESKTOP WALLPAPERS we do every single Wednesday! That's the day we call "Wacky Wallpaper Wednesday" and lately I have been on such a weird sleeping schedule that both times I totally forgot, sorry. So, yet again here they are on Thursday, ha ha! I usually post 2 but I'm doing 3 just to make up for my mistake. The 1st two are new backgrounds that are from the Official DC Comics website. Right now they are kinda hyping the BATMAN: RIP storyline. They have some amazing artwork by Alex Ross. He has a painterly-style that is very hyper-realistic, very cool! The 3rd wallpaper is totally random. I used a vintage black & white pin-up photo that I found of Yvonne Craig. Of course we all know her as the actress who played Barbara Gordon / Batgirl in the 1966 Batman TV Series...MEOW! I hope you can find a place in your heart to forgive me.
A loyal Bat-Blog Reader sent us these 2 wonderful photos to share! His name is Chaz & he's shown here with his 2 lovely daughters. They were lucky enough to meet both Julie Newmar & Yvonne Craig at some comic book convention event. Of course we know them as Catwoman & Batgirl from the 1966 Batman TV Show. Now, the thing that's most interesting about his family is that they actually named their two daughters "Batgirl" & "Harley Quinn"...how cool is that?! Thanks Chaz for sending these photos, they're really great. I had the chance a few years ago to meet Yvonne Craig & she's a really sweet lady, a true class act. If any other readers have met some Bat-celebrities please send us your photos too!
I meant to post this the other day because it was Yvonne Craig's birthday ( May 16th ) but I was too busy so didn't get a chance. Of course we all know her as Barbara Gordon/Batgirl from the 1966 Batman TV Show. She made her appearance in 1968. Here's a "Tribute Video" somebody made of her that shows clips from her many TV Show appearances in the 1960's. It's kind of amazing to think that she was on Star Trek ( Green Alien - Dancer ), Wild Wild West, Voyage To The Bottom of The Sea, Perry Pason, Land of The Giants, Big Valley, & many many more.
Since Yvonne Craig's Birthday is in a few days ( May 16th ) I thought I would do a small tribute & post some FREE Yvonne Craig Wallpaper Backgrounds. Of course we all know her as Batgirl on the 1966 Batman TV Show ( she appeared on the show in 1968 ). The 1st graphic is an original promotional photo for the TV series. She was a classically trained dancer ya know! The 2nd one shows the details of her famous Batgirl "Bat-Cycle" Motorcycle & the last wallpaper is a sexy pin-up from the 1960's, hubba hubba!
Today my friend Al sent me a link to a very cool website where they reprinted an extremely RARE interview with Reuben Watt, the assistant director on ABC-TV's 1966 Batman Series. It was kind of a big deal then because he was black & the TV Show production company was very liberal about race. There's a lot of very cool "behind-the-scene" photos. Down below is a link button to check it out. While there be sure to look for a link on the far right-side of the page, near the bottom, to also read a very sexy article about Yvonne Craig ( Batgirl ). This is a really fun, well-designed, website with tons of crazy wacky stuff! Thanks Al for sharing this. Oh yeah, the name of the web page is "I'm Learning To Share", how funny is that!
I found this on YouTube recently & had to post it for the 1960's Batman Fans. It's the special 1966 TV Show theme song for Batgirl ( Yvonne Craig ) when she entered the series... Crank Up Your Speakers & Rock Out!
