OK, I have not been able to totally confirm these yet but here's a photo of what might be the 4 special Hallmark Keepsake Ornaments for this year's 2011 San Diego Comic-Con International. The event happens July 21st - 24th, 2011. We have Batman "Descending Upon Gotham", IG-88 & Dengar from Star Wars ( Sold as a Set ), and The Comic Book Guy from The Simpsons. Now, this Batman Keepsake Ornament has been released before in 2009 with the Silver-Age "Blue, Gray, & Yellow" colors ( You can see it by clicking HERE! ). It looks like this new one is a color variation, a more Modern Day "Black & Gray" version. For more information about the show please visit Comic-Con.org
Hallmark Stores just released some beautiful photos of their next extremely awesome BATMAN-Themed Christmas Ornaments. The one on the left is called "Batman Takes Flight" and is a more Modern-Day Comic Book version. The 2nd one is the 1966 Batmobile Car from the TV Show which plays the "Batman Theme" Music !! Look for these in Hallmark Stores around July.

Over at the awesome CAPTAIN TOY website they have some wonderful photos of all the 2011 Christmas Keepsake Ornaments that Hallmark Cards plan to release next year. The main one that most Batman Fans are going to be really excited about is the 1966 TV Show Batmobile Car designed by George Barris!! They will also be making ones of Catwoman ( modern version ), Harley Quinn with Hammer, & a Silver-Age Batman! If you visit the site they also show all the others & there are some really great ones! My personal favorites include: The Peanuts, Toy Story, Tom & Jerry, the new TRON movie light-cycle, Green Lantern, Superman, Indiana Jones in the Snake Pit, Rosie The Robot from The Jetsons Cartoon, a cool Star Wars one with Han & Greedo ( Han shot first, ha! ), & many many more. Just click here to check them out, LINK!
OK, I know it's way too early to talk about Christmas Ornaments, ha ha! But I just got this new photo from Hallmark & it's pretty cool, so here we go. For 2010, Hallmark Card Stores will release the "BATMAN CAPED CRUSADER" Keepsake Ornament. I really like this one because it's the classic comic book version...Oh Yeah!
For 2009 Hallmark is going to have another Batman-themed Christmas ornament this year & it looks pretty cool! The thing I like about it is that it is the "Silver Age Comic Book" version with the yellow-oval bat-symbol logo on the chest. It measures about 4 1/2" tall & will have a retail price of $15.00. We reported on this thing awhile back but I recently found a way better picture of it. Plus, it's closer to the time when it will actually be in stores so I thought I would do a re-post to remind everybody. So...keep an eye out for it on your next trip!

Today I thought I would get back to what the Bat-Blog does best & that is covering the old Vintage Batman Toys from the past. Here's a really nice assortment of items from the 1960's. In fact, most of these came out in 1966 to capitalize on the popularity of the '66 Batman TV Show. The 1st photo is an extremely RARE Batman Halloween Costume by the Berwick Company, for the British UK market. I love the retro-style artwork on the original box, nice! The 2nd piece of Bat-History is kinda goofy but also very desirable by many collectors because of it's rarity. It's an unopened package of Hallmark Birthday Gift Wrap! Oh man, the original retail price was only 25 cents, ha ha! The next item to drool over is the front & back of the Classic 1966 Batman & Joker Paddle Ball Game! You can find this toy sometimes, loose, out of the package, but here it's shown with the original retail bag & header card...most sweet! The last item is one of those Tin-Metal Bicycle License Plate Tags made by LOUIS MARX & CO, INC. This one with THE JOKER graphics is super-dooper rare! In the past I have seen these with Batman & Robin but I think they also made Penguin & Riddler ones too. Anyways, hope you liked some of these. If you have any super-rare Batman pieces to share then please send them in. The Bat-Blog is all about sharing the love of collecting both new & vintage bat-items, thanks.
OK, I know that this is wayyy out of season but Hallmark Stores have started to put out some of their New Christmas Keepsake Ornaments for 2008. They are gonna have a "Batman Climbing His Rope" ( The Dark Knight ) Ornament & another one of THE JOKER ( Comic Book Version ). So, keep an eye out for these if you collect them. I really like the one of the Joker, very cool! Thanks Kevin for sending the information. If any other Bat-Blog Readers hear about ANY new Batman merchandise please let us know!!
Yesterday, for the heck of it, I went to TOYS-R-US to see if they had any of those Large 1/18th Scale Hot Wheels 1966 Batmobiles on sale. Yes, Like I actually thought I might have a chance ( I'm a sucker )! But, It's been widely reported that TRU is stocking them in their stores. You just gotta beat-out the scalpers who chase the delivery trucks from store to store, ha ha! Anyway, they were not there of course so I took a look around & found a good Clearance Deal! In their "Birthday Party Supply" area they had this Batman Pinata on sale for $4.00. The original retail was $14.99 so I thought that $4.00 was better. Actually I'm glad I bought it. It's basically a HUGE square box covered in shredded streamer-paper with a nice color-litho poster of Batman ( The Batman Cartoon ) on both sides. It's made by Hallmark & is pretty good quality. Last night I hung it in my bedroom, a nice decoration item. Ya gotta think that many years from now most of these will have been destroyed at birthday parties & will be very rare. Anyway, I might go back to TRU because I do want one of those '66 Batmobiles! ( It willll beee mmmmine! ). As a side note I noticed that TRU has an EXCLUSIVE Batmobile Toy. It's the DC Superfriends SHAKE-N-GO car ( made by Fisher Price, a subsidiary of Mattel ) with a strange color-variation, it's blue instead of black. I already have the black version & decided not to get this one right now.
This Christmas 2007 Hallmark Stores will release a brand-new Batman Keepsake Ornament called THE VILLAIN DATABASE. Designed by Lane Feuer it measures about 4 1/4" wide & with the push of a button will reveal new pictures of different Batman Villains. The retail price will be $16.50...look for it.
