Sean Hartter's Retro-Style SUPERHERO MOVIE Posters

OK, I'm a total loser & don't get to brag much, but I gotta say that I'm really proud of our good buddy Sean Hartter! He's a very talented commercial artist & he recently got some amazing hype on his artwork over at the WEEKLY-CRISIS website. They did a fun story about his fake Retro-Style "Superhero Movie" Posters & Lobby Cards. Basically, he creates new images that look like old vintage advertising for movies that were never made ( but you WISH they had made, ha! ). As an example I'm showing one for THE JOKER with Tim Curry as the lead character. But at the Weekly-Crisis website you can see some of your favorite Superheroes like: Superman, Plastic Man, Iron Fist, Wolverine, & many more. Just click HERE!

Vintage Foreign BATMAN Movie Poster & Books

As a totally obsessed ( yes, crazy ) Batman Toy Collector one of my favorite areas in the genre are "foreign items". They're pretty hard to find here in the US & they're always interesting. Here's a few examples: This 1st item is a Vintage Movie Poster for the 1960's BATMAN film. But what make it unique is that it's from Italy & the language is completely Italian...awesome! I love the graphics on this thing. Now, the next 2 pictures show some cool Batman books from around the globe. The 1st book was published in France ( Yes, it's all in French, ha ha ) & it reprinted some Golden Age stories from 1943-44. It was released as a hardback around 1989, during the Tim Burton movie craze. The next book is a paperback & one of the things that make it extremely interesting is the size of the book is very very weird. It has a standard width, but it was made to be extremely tall ( or very long ). The next great thing about it is that it's from Uruguay! It was published around 1968 & is extremely RARE! So, I guess I'm gonna ask all Bat-Blog Fans who live outside the USA if they have any "foreign bat-books or toys" in their collections to please send us some photos. Thanks!

BATMAN AND JOKER Desktop Wallpaper Backgrounds

OK, This week I thought I would post a few Batman Wallpapers that feature The Joker & then maybe one of an image from BATMAN: THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD. Mainly, because I am sort of missing that cartoon & can't wait till they start airing new episodes. Also, I guess I need to sort of explain the 2 Joker ones. The 1st one is an image I came across on the Internet a long time ago. It was on a website that was totally Japanese & I guess the artwork was some sort of fan-art. It has a total anime-style that is pretty interesting but it's also very weird how the Joker is a female. It even has some sort of "romance angle". The whole thing is adapted from THE DARK KNIGHT movie & the clothes worn by "Mrs. Joker" are exactly like Heath Ledger's costume. But overall it's very well drawn & does make an interesting background ( try it ). The next one is an art submission from our buddy Sean Hartter. This is another one of his "Vintage Movie Poster / Lobby Cards" that are so much fun ( & very well done ). He likes to make these for movies that were never made, but should have been, ha! This one is a JOKER MOVIE starring Tim Curry. You know, the actor who played "Dr. Frank-N-Furter" in the 1975 Cult Classic Film "The Rocky Horror Picture Show". He would have been incredible as the Joker! ( Thanks Sean for sending this in ). OK, now I know the wallpapers this week are sort of weird but I'm in kind of a funky mood lately so it's appropriate. Please let me know which one you like the best.

BATMAN IIX - Vintage Movie Poster Parody!

Shown here is a beautiful graphic created by our good friend Sean Hartter. It's a fake Vintage Movie Poster / Lobby Card featuring Donald Pleasence as Mr. Freeze! Oh man, he would have been great in that role. I always loved seeing him in movies. He was the perfect character actor, very creepy! I know you guys have seen him, just do a Google Search sometime & you'll say, "Oh yeah, that guy!" It's also funny to note, that in this total fantasy film, Batman would have been played by Burt Reynolds, ha ha ha! I really wish they would have made this movie : ) Thanks to Sean for sharing his fun artwork.

ADAM WEST - Vintage Movie Poster!

My friend John sent me this photo of a Vintage Movie Poster he actually bought. It starred Adam West "Batman". Yeah, it's funny because they sneaked on the word "Batman" in there, ha! This was a movie he obviously did after his "Caped Crusader" career. The name of the film is "THE GIRL WHO KNEW TOO MUCH". From the looks of it, it's a gritty crime story about a dame who got too tied-up with the mob! The tag-line reads, "YOU HAVE TO BE CRAZY OR IN LOVE - TO TAKE ON THE SYNDICATE!". Adam West is shown with a badge so at least he's the good guy ( or is he? )! Thanks for sending the pic John, never seen this, & it's really cool!

Anybody Ever Seen This Batman Poster?

A friend to the Bat-Blog recently asked if I knew where he could find this obscure BATMAN Poster. I told him I have never seen it before. I'm guessing that it's a "foreign release", probably from the UK, or maybe just some very obscure Promo Poster. About the only thing he knows about this item is that the artwork was done by Drew Struzan. So, I'm asking all the Bat-Blog Readers if any of you know anything about this poster please leave a comment or send us an e-mail, thanks.

FIGHT BATMAN FIGHT!! A Super-Cheesy 1970's Exploitation Movie From The Philippines

Ever since finding the Exploitation "FIGHT BATMAN FIGHT" Movie Poster awhile back I have tried to research this classic Batman bootleg movie. It was filmed in the Philippines in 1973. It starred Victor Wood as Batman. The 1st set of pictures are graphics from the movie posters which have to be super-rare! The next photos are from some newspaper ads. This movie by Pacific Films is such a blatant rip-off of the Warner Brothers character that I'm sure they were sued or forced to not release this to DVD. I bet it didn't even last in the movie theaters that long, ha ha! The only available copies are probably owned by a few collectors. Judging by some of the artwork it looked like it had babes & robots, oh god! This would be so great to watch!!

Vintage BATMAN POSTERS : Rock Music Concert & Retail Store Displays

I keep a lot of reference material & pictures handy to do these posts. I have a folder on my PC where I dump tons of Batman related photos & then when it's time to post I go there. This morning I saw a few pictures that created a "theme". Here are some Vintage Batman Posters I thought were pretty cool. The 1st photo is a set of 2 Retail Store Display Posters for Batman Fruit Drink & Dairy Products. They were made during the 1966 TV Show & are double-printed so that a grocer could fold in them in half, hang them on a wire in the grocery store, & have visuals on both sides. I seriously love the cheesy retro-graphics, ha ha! The next poster is a RARE Vintage 60's Rock Concert Poster for a show at the Fillmore Auditorium on March 18, 19, & 20th. This baby has got to be super-RARE! The last poster is a photo sent in by a friend. It's a promo poster from a comic book shop in the Netherlands & the cool thing is that it has foreign language on it. It's from the 1980's & has awesome graphics! ( Thank you John for sending the cool picture ).

Foreign Vintage Batman Memorabilia: Japan, Argentina, & France!

Now, people who know me know how I seriously LOVE the wacky "Foreign Batman Memorabilia"! It's really hard to find & very obscure. Here are a few examples: The 1st one is a set of Playing Cards from Japan that were play pieces for a bootleg Japanese Board Game. I love the weird artwork made just "wrong enough" to slip by copyright laws, ha ha! The 2nd pieces of memorabilia is a group of Batman Comic Books from Argentina! I love the golden age style artwork & the strange horizontal format. These are from the late 1950's so that's cool too. The last item is a Giant-Sized Original Vintage 60's Movie Poster from France made for the 1966 Batman Movie starring Adam West & Burt Ward...sweet! Be sure to check the BAT-BLOG ARCHIVES for mant more examples of Vintage Foreign Batman Memorabilia!!

GERMAN BATMAN Original Vintage 1966 Movie Poster

Here's a great set of photos ( click the small one up above for a larger, more detailed, picture ) recently sent into the Bat-Blog from a Vintage Movie Poster Collector in the UK named Rick. He said, "I just got this wonderful 1966 BATMAN Movie Poster at a Boot-Sale last weekend & wanted to share it with your readers. It's a very RARE poster made for the release of the movie in Germany. It's all in German! The best thing about it is the unusual graphics plus I stole it for 20 pounds! For now I'm displaying it in a plexiglass frame, to protect it, but plan to have it professionally framed later." WOW Rick!! That poster is a beautiful piece of ART, you should be very proud! Also, ya got it for 20 pounds?? I'm jealous! ( 20 British Pounds is about $40.00 American, plus a "Boot-Sale" is a flea market ). Be sure to check the BAT-BLOG ARCHIVES for many more Vintage Posters & Toys.

ORIGINAL VINTAGE 1949 BATMAN Serial Movie Poster

In 1949, a follow-up serial to The Batman, Batman and Robin, was released. Robert Lowery played Batman, while Johnny Duncan played Robin. Supporting players included Jane Adams as Vicki Vale and veteran character actor Lyle Talbot as Commissioner Gordon. The plot dealt with the Dynamic Duo facing off against the Wizard, a hooded villain whose identity remains a mystery throughout the serial until the end. The film's budget was even lower than the first one, and as a result, Batman drives a Mercury convertible. However, the acting was regarded as better than the first. In particular, Lowery is regarded as being a much tougher Batman than his predecessor Wilson. These classic Batman Serial Movies have recently been released on DVD & are on sale now at TFAW.
