Yesterday, Warner Bros released an official image on their Batman "THE DARK KNIGHT RISES" Movie Website of the "Teaser Poster" for the film. Here it is, click on it for a HUGE version. It shows an upward shot of crumbling buildings ( Gotham City ) and there's a "hidden" image of the Bat-Logo. What do you think? Now, please keep in mind that the "teaser stuff" is usually extremely vague & mysterious.
OK, I'm a total loser & don't get to brag much, but I gotta say that I'm really proud of our good buddy Sean Hartter! He's a very talented commercial artist & he recently got some amazing hype on his artwork over at the WEEKLY-CRISIS website. They did a fun story about his fake Retro-Style "Superhero Movie" Posters & Lobby Cards. Basically, he creates new images that look like old vintage advertising for movies that were never made ( but you WISH they had made, ha! ). As an example I'm showing one for THE JOKER with Tim Curry as the lead character. But at the Weekly-Crisis website you can see some of your favorite Superheroes like: Superman, Plastic Man, Iron Fist, Wolverine, & many more. Just click HERE!
Shown here is a beautiful graphic created by our good friend Sean Hartter. It's a fake Vintage Movie Poster / Lobby Card featuring Donald Pleasence as Mr. Freeze! Oh man, he would have been great in that role. I always loved seeing him in movies. He was the perfect character actor, very creepy! I know you guys have seen him, just do a Google Search sometime & you'll say, "Oh yeah, that guy!" It's also funny to note, that in this total fantasy film, Batman would have been played by Burt Reynolds, ha ha ha! I really wish they would have made this movie : ) Thanks to Sean for sharing his fun artwork.

The big news right now is that "Celebrity Authentics", a company that hires big-name actors & movie stars to sign photos & movie posters, finally got 2 new Batman Actors in their stable of celebrity autograph signers. They now have Christian Bale & Michael Keaton! Both of these actors are hard to get signatures from but now you can buy autographed items from them through the company. In the past they have also worked with other Batman Stars: Adam West, Burt Ward, Frank Gorshin, Burgess Meredith, Mark Hamill, Val Kilmer, & others. They also work with John Travolta, Tobey McGuire, Robert Downey Jr, Eric Bana, William Shatner, Leonard Nemoy, etc... You can check out their website by clicking HERE!

Since today is "Wacky Wallpaper Wednesday" I thought, this week, I would post 2 backgrounds with something vintage 60's Batman & something that's modern, but looks vintage. Does that make sense? Please let me explain. The 1st Wallpaper is a wonderful glamor-fashion photo of Julie Newmar as Catwoman from the 1966 TV Series. It's the "vintage one". The 2nd Batman Wallpaper was sent in by our good friend Sean Hartter who made this amazing background that totally looks like an old vintage newspaper advertisement for a "Special Screening of 2 Batman Movies", a Double-Feature! The great thing about this graphic is that, if you're familiar with the "look" of these old ads, then it totally fools you for a minute. Then, you realize, "Hey, This is BATMAN BEGINS & THE DARK KNIGHT! They're very recent movies, ha ha!" I wanna thank Sean for the wonderful artwork, it's great! I also wanna say Hi to Julie Newmar & let her know that I'm sincerely sorry I forgot it was her birthday recently ...Happy Birthday Julie! You know I love ya!
New from the "Little Friends of Printmaking". Printed to promote the upcoming screenings of the 1966 Batman Movie ( Adam West & Burt Ward ) at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema's Kids Summer Camp! A Four color poster, measuring 25" x 19", this print is signed and numbered by the artist! Here's a link for more info on how to buy it.

We all remember the now classic "Teaser Promo" Movie Poster from The Dark Knight that was a brick wall with graffiti of 2 dark circles for Joker's eyes & a red Bat-Symbol for the mouth. It made a crazy "Joker Face" that let us all know The Joker was coming soon & it also gave a hint that something terrible was gonna happen to Batman ( the "red mouth" looked kinda bloody because the spray paint was running a little bit ). Well, a friend named Paul, who's an avid reader of the Bat-Blog, decided that this was the image he was gonna use for a Jack O'Lantern Halloween Pumpkin this year. So, here's what he made! He drew the design on with some sharpies & then carved a beautiful piece of ART! The finished pumpkin looks great. Thanks Paul for sharing these photos...and HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
Yesterday I received a nice e-mail from a Bat-Blog Reader, named John, who said, "Hey Dude, Love your Bat-Blog. I'm a HUGE Bat-Fan & I gotta share some photos of my new "Heath Ledger Joker" Tattoo. I got my work done at DNA Tattoo in Williamstown, NJ, By artist Dan Craft." Wow, John! Please tell Dan he did a very wonderful job on the artwork, very nice coloring & shading. Of course it's the now-famous The Dark Knight movie poster we're seeing here. Considering your tattoo's large size it must have hurt like heck! The Joker looks great though & thanks for sending the photos, I appreciate that.

A new friend to the Bat-Blog, named Kuan, sent us these 2 wonderful photos in response to a previous post where we showed some advertising billboards & banners from New York City for The Dark Knight Batman movie. Kuan lives in Singapore & recently saw some outdoor signs for The Dark Knight. Well, the amazing thing too is that he got some pictures from when the movie Batman Begins was showing there a few years ago! As you can see from the dates on the photos they were both taken on almost the same day but 3 years apart! Wow, how cool is that?! I want to personally thank Kuan for sending in these great pics, Thanks! And while I'm at it, I wanna invite all our other readers to do the same. ( On a side note, I think it's amazing getting communication from a guy all the way in Singapore. I love the internet! )

Ever since I saw that scene, at the end of BATMAN BEGINS, where Jim Gordon hands a Joker Playing Card ( in a police evidence bag ) over to Batman & Batman replies, "I'll check into it" we have known that the next movie was gonna have The Joker! For awhile there was wild speculation as to which actor would be this character. Then we all heard the name "Heath Ledger". To be honest, at first, I thought it was a weird choice. But, I put my trust in Christopher Nolan's decision & look what has happened. All the news reports & reviews are saying that Ledger's performance is easily Oscar worthy. That he plays the Joker with incredible skill. Well, I'm really excited about that & tonight, after waiting almost 2 years, some friends & I are gonna go to a special midnight showing! I'm totally excited & really looking forward to this film. OK, sorry to go on & on. Let's get to the reason of this post. I thought, to celebrate the movie, I would post 2 DARK KNIGHT Desktop Background Wallpapers! The 1st one is a montage of a few different Batman TDK Movie Posters. This one was created & sent in by a Bat-Blog Reader named Levi. I think it looks really cool, thanks Levi & GOOD JOB! I made the 2nd one & it's the classic scene with the Bat-Pod motorcycle crashing though the window of a Gotham City building. I hope you enjoy both of these!
This morning I was totally delighted when I opened my e-mail & got this awesome photo from a dedicated Bat-Blog Reader ( Thanks Chen! ). It's a wonderful photo showing the HUGE billboard advertising that Warner Bros is doing in Taiwan!! If you look closely ( Click on the small picture up above for a larger, more detailed shot ) you can see a few of the different "movie posters" sprinkled all around, nice! ( Thanks again Chen, this pic is great! ). I wanna invite ALL Bat-Blog Readers who see cool promo-stuff like this to mail it in. Signs, billboards, banners, whatever! Our e-mail button is on the top right-hand side of this page, thanks.
