NEW BATMAN MOVIE BACKGROUNDS - Wacky Wallpaper Wednesday!

For this week's "Wacky Wallpaper Wedneday" I thought we could celebrate some of the BATMAN Movies. The 1st one is an iconic image from the 1966 BATMAN Movie with Adam West ( "Some Days You Just Can't Get Rid of a Bomb!" ). The next background, of course, is the just-released "Teaser Poster" for THE DARK KNIGHT RISES movie. We can't wait to see this new film & the image of Gotham City crumbling is cool!

BATMAN LIVE POSTERS and BILLBOARDS Popping-Up in the UK & France!

With the BATMAN LIVE World Arena Tour opening pretty soon in the UK ( The very 1st show, I think, starts next month ) the advertising hype is starting! Shown here, in the very 1st photo, is the Official Marquee Poster that will appear in front of theaters. Then, in the 2nd pic, is a French Advertising Poster at a Bus Stop Terminal in Paris, France. Then, a HUGE Giant-Sized Vinyl Billboard in Liverpool, England! ( Please click on it, it's a really BIG Photo ) WOW! OK, I'm asking all of our friends who live in Europe to please send us some photos of this kinda stuff when you see it. You guys get to experience this event a full year before we Americans do & I'm totally jealous, ha!

Official THE DARK KNIGHT RISES Batman Movie TEASER POSTER!

Yesterday, Warner Bros released an official image on their Batman "THE DARK KNIGHT RISES" Movie Website of the "Teaser Poster" for the film. Here it is, click on it for a HUGE version. It shows an upward shot of crumbling buildings ( Gotham City ) and there's a "hidden" image of the Bat-Logo. What do you think? Now, please keep in mind that the "teaser stuff" is usually extremely vague & mysterious.

Please Help Comic Book Artist Moose Baumann Raise Money for Wife's Cancer Treatment

I noticed a story the other day over at COMICS ALLIANCE that sort of broke my heart a little bit. It appears that Moose Baumann, an extremely talented comic book colorist, is being plagued with having to deal with his Wife's Cancer Treatment ( We hope she is feeling better soon ). You see, most Comic Book Artists are pretty much "freelance" or self-employed. Many don't have proper Health Insurance. So, to help deal with the bills Moose Baumann is offering "Superhero Art Prints" to help raise money. The prints are 13" x 19" and printed on archival paper. They're some of the many comic book covers ( and inside artwork ) that he has colored. Now, We have only posted a few as examples here but there are more variations on Batman and Robin. There are also some images of Green Lantern, Superman, The Flash, Iron Man, etc... Here's a LINK to check it out!! Oh yeah, the prints are only $20 so while you're there buy 3 or 4, thanks.

1966 BATMAN TV Show - Uncle Sam PSA Propaganda P osters

While surfing through the evil eBay the other day I came across a Graphic Artist selling these BATMAN "I Want You" PSA POSTERS ( Public Service Announcement ). Of course they're all a parody of the classic UNCLE SAM Army Enlistment Propaganda Posters from World War II, but they feature characters from the 1966 BATMAN TV Show! I think they look pretty cool! We get to see Batman ( Adam West ), Robin The Boy Wonder ( Burt Ward ), and Batgirl ( Yvonne Craig ). The funny thing is that the Batgirl Poster says, "I want you to return all your books to Gotham City Public Library". You see, in the television series Batgirl was also Barbara Gordon, who was a Librarian in Gotham, ha ha!

BATMAN ARKHAM CITY - Hugo Strange and Two-Face Propaganda Posters

Here are some BATMAN: ARKHAM CITY Propaganda Poster images released by both Warner Bros Interactive & Rocksteady Games. In this sequel to the popular Batman Video Game a character named Hugo Strange is going to be a major part of the game. This "poster" is one that is being posted all over Gotham City. The next "poster" is for Two-Face & it's a parody of the famous "Uncle Sam, I Want You" image.

Vintage 1960's BATMAN TOYS Advertising!

OK, as a Major Batman Toy Collector I'm usually obsessed with finding good reference material showing the older vintage toys & items. Scanning through old store catalogs, newspaper ( and comic book ) ads, & wholesale pamplets you can discover a treasure trove of items you have never seen before. Shown up above are 2 great examples. One is an old ad for a Batman Yo-Yo from the 1960's called the BAT-YO! It was manufactured by the PLAY-MORS Toy Company. It looks like they used some Carmine Infantino-inspired artwork, cool! The next picture is another ad, this one is from an old 60's comic book ( exact issue unknown ) showing a special "Life-Size Batman poster" you could order...for one dollar, ha ha! Now, I've seen the actual poster before & it's really nice. Sadly, I have not found it for my personal collection just yet but someday IT WILL BE MINE!!

Vintage Foreign BATMAN Movie Poster & Books

As a totally obsessed ( yes, crazy ) Batman Toy Collector one of my favorite areas in the genre are "foreign items". They're pretty hard to find here in the US & they're always interesting. Here's a few examples: This 1st item is a Vintage Movie Poster for the 1960's BATMAN film. But what make it unique is that it's from Italy & the language is completely Italian...awesome! I love the graphics on this thing. Now, the next 2 pictures show some cool Batman books from around the globe. The 1st book was published in France ( Yes, it's all in French, ha ha ) & it reprinted some Golden Age stories from 1943-44. It was released as a hardback around 1989, during the Tim Burton movie craze. The next book is a paperback & one of the things that make it extremely interesting is the size of the book is very very weird. It has a standard width, but it was made to be extremely tall ( or very long ). The next great thing about it is that it's from Uruguay! It was published around 1968 & is extremely RARE! So, I guess I'm gonna ask all Bat-Blog Fans who live outside the USA if they have any "foreign bat-books or toys" in their collections to please send us some photos. Thanks!

BATMAN and ROBIN Vintage-Style Graphic Art Posters

Michael B. Myers is a 27 year old Graphic Designer and, as a personal project, he recently created a few "Vintage Style Superhero Posters" featuring a few of our favorite DC Comics characters. He actually made a lot of them ( Green Lantern, Superman, The Flash, Aquaman, Wonder Woman, Green Arrow, & Hawkman) but because the Bat-Blog is mostly Batman-related, I thought I would just post these 2 of The Dark Knight and Robin. If you would like to see more then just click HERE!

Batmobilly's VINTAGE BATMAN POSTER Collection

I woke-up this morning to some very cool Batman pictures in my email box, that's always awesome! They were sent in by a Good Bat-Blog Citizen named Batmobilly. He shot some pictures of a few posters he has had professionally framed & they look really GREAT! ( Be sure to click on them for larger examples, they're really cool close-up ). The 1st one is a poster from Eskimo Pie & Welch's Fruit Pops when they had a tie-in promotion with "The Adventures of Batman & Robin" TV cartoon back in 1996. If you remember, you could get some trading cards on the back of the box & there were 12 different ones to collect. This poster was a mail-away item. I totally love the graphics on here because that TV series was so wonderful. The next poster advertises a Hot Rod Car Show event they had in Boston called "The World of Wheels". It's from 1993 & features a bold picture of the Batman movie Batmobile car! That would have been pretty cool to go to. Now, here's a unique piece of Bat-History, this poster was once accidentally shown on the "Home Improvement" TV Show. It happened when Tim Allen's character, while on a road trip, stops at a convenience store to ask for directions. The episode was called "You're Driving Me Crazy, You're Driving Me Nuts". Now, check out the last poster here. It's a comic book-style image of the 1966 Batman TV Show when they're firing-up the Batmobile. You know the scene, "Atomic batteries to power, turbines to speed. OK, ready to move out!". Wow! I wanna thank Batmobilly for taking the time to shoot these incredible photos. I gotta admit that I have never seen the last 2 posters here. But, sharing the love of collecting cool Batman stuff is really the main focus of the Bat-Blog!

BATMAN AND ROBIN NEWS - Movie Ad Spotted in Egypt!

Here's an extremely awesome set of photos sent in by a Bat-Blog Fan all the way from Egypt! Yes, Egypt! His name is Myret & he wrote,
"Here are some pics I took in downtown Cairo of a building that has an advertisement of the "Batman and Robin" movie on it's side. It's been up since 1997, so it's a little bit rough around the edges, but it's still cool. The translation of what is written is "NOW IN ALL CINEMAS IN CAIRO AND ALEXANDRIA - BATMAN AND ROBIN!"
WOW! Thank you so much Myret for sending this, it's totally GREAT! The fact that this wall mural ad has existed all this time & has never been painted-over is very cool news. I totally love this!

Andy Warhol BATMAN 60's LOGO PAINTING Art Exhibit Poster

Everybody who knows me personally knows that I am a total Andy Warhol Fan. So when my friend Jeffery sent me this pic of a cool poster with "Warhol AND Batman" I was pretty happy, ha ha. This is an extremely RARE Art Gallery Poster for an exhibit of Warhol's artwork in Torino, Italy. The event happened in 1989 & the actual graphic is a large painting that the Artist did in the 1960's. I love that they chose his "Batman Logo" painting for this. It was an early piece where he was still trying to be a little bit like an Abstract Expressionist. It's a famous piece of art that you really don't get to see very often. Awesome! Thanks Jeffery!

ADAM WEST - Vintage Movie Poster!

My friend John sent me this photo of a Vintage Movie Poster he actually bought. It starred Adam West "Batman". Yeah, it's funny because they sneaked on the word "Batman" in there, ha! This was a movie he obviously did after his "Caped Crusader" career. The name of the film is "THE GIRL WHO KNEW TOO MUCH". From the looks of it, it's a gritty crime story about a dame who got too tied-up with the mob! The tag-line reads, "YOU HAVE TO BE CRAZY OR IN LOVE - TO TAKE ON THE SYNDICATE!". Adam West is shown with a badge so at least he's the good guy ( or is he? )! Thanks for sending the pic John, never seen this, & it's really cool!

BATMAN DESKTOP WALLPAPER BACKGROUNDS

OK KIDS! It's "Wacky Wallpaper Wednesday" again & it's time to present some Batman-themed Wallpapers you can use to brighten your desktop or use as a background in your MySpace layout. Both of these were generously contributed by 2 good friends of the Bat-Blog who also happen to be extremely talented graphic artists too! Their names are Chris Mason & Sean Hartter. Chris did the 1st one which is an original drawing he did of Adam West from the 1966 TV Show. It's totally wonderful! The crisp clean line are really sharp & this thing almost looks like a photo, very realisitic. The 2nd one is just as great & with this one Sean imagined "what if.." the 1989 Batman movie was released during the Victorian era? What would the advertisement poster for the film look like back then? Well, here it is!! I love the total "vintage look", it's very interesting, & a totally original idea too. Right now I wanna thank both of them for sending in such cool stuff. Thanks guys! If there are any other readers who would like to contribute then, hey, just contact us today...thanks again!

Vintage 1960's Batman Promo Poster From Europe!

Our good friend Hans, who lives in The Netherlands, sent us this beautiful photo of an extremely RARE piece of Vintage 60's Batman Memorabilia! He wrote, " this is my latest find, a Dutch Batman & Robin Promo Poster ©1967. This was a special mail-in order poster from a Dutch grocery store called Albert Heijn. If one did your shopping there you could save up for this poster." WOW! Thanks Han, this is truly super-rare & I seriously LOVE the vintage artwork! In fact, I went ahead & used your photo to make a Desktop Wallpaper ( down below ) that you, and Bat-Blog Readers, can enjoy. Plus, I posted a picture of the actual poster up above...it's really nice! Thank you very much for sending this, I appreciate that!

Anybody Ever Seen This Batman Poster?

A friend to the Bat-Blog recently asked if I knew where he could find this obscure BATMAN Poster. I told him I have never seen it before. I'm guessing that it's a "foreign release", probably from the UK, or maybe just some very obscure Promo Poster. About the only thing he knows about this item is that the artwork was done by Drew Struzan. So, I'm asking all the Bat-Blog Readers if any of you know anything about this poster please leave a comment or send us an e-mail, thanks.

THE DARK KNIGHT Batman Reeces Candy Promotional Poster

In a previous post we showed the graphic art for the packaging to the Reeces Candy that will feature pictures of Christian Bale as Batman, from The Dark Knight Batman movie. Yes, they're gonna make "Batman-Themed" Reeces Pieces & Peanut Butter Cups, ha ha! Well, this just came in. This is the Promo Poster for the sale of the candy bars...with an awesome photo of Batman from the movie! I love how the background as an extremely detailed photo of Gotham City plus you get another look at the Batman-Suit costume. These will probably be displayed in convenience stores & when they do I'm gonna have to pester my friend who works at 7-11 to let me have one, ha ha!
