Just a friendly reminder that tomorrow, Saturday, May 7th is FREE COMIC BOOK DAY. This is when you can hit your favorite Comic Book Retail Store ( or Public Library, in some cities ) and pick-up some free comics!! Now, this year there will be 2 books you will want to pick-up that are sort of Batman-related. The 1st one is a "Young Justice / Batman: The Brave and The Bold" issue. This book features stories with characters from each Cartoon Network animated TV series. The 2nd one is totally wacky & comes from Bluewater Productions, "The Mis-Adventures of Adam West". Reading it, I know he mentions the Batman character from time to time but it really is more about Mr. West himself. It's kind of wacky too, ha! Also, while you're there, you can click on a book's cover & then read a sample of it online ( Read some of the "Adam West" one to get an idea of it ).
Here's a link to download a remake of a classic BATMAN Video Game. The original was the first isometric game by Jon Ritman and Bernie Drummond. The graphics will take you right back to the 1980's, ha ha! So, are you curious? Well, just click HERE!
Over at the DC BEYOND website they have a new free online BATMAN: THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD 3D Flash Video Game called "STREETS OF GOTHAM: FULL THROTTLE!". It looks pretty cool! I have not played it yet but it's a race car racing game with Batman, Catwoman, Green Arrow, The Joker, The Huntress, Green Lantern &, I think, Wildcat. The goal is to win a few races, in a row, so you can unlock a new vehicle for Batman. Oh, it's the BAT-JET! Yes, you get to fly around the track! Here's a link to check it out, just click HERE!
OK, Recently here at the Bat-Blog we have been running a small contest to give away a Mint-in-Package Hot Wheels 1966 Batmobile Car made by Mattel ©2007. Today I received what I felt to be the last entry so I put the numbers in a hat & randomly chose the winner. I wanna thank everybody who entered but as we all know there can be only one winner. We announced awhile back about our latest contest where we are giving away a FREE Autographed Signed-Copy of Chip Kidd's brand-new book titled BAT-MANGA, THE SECRET HISTORY OF BATMAN IN JAPAN. OK, I know we have been kinda crazy with the contests lately but it's because we have received a lot of material from generous readers & there's some that I already had planned so they just all clashed together, ha ha! But, this contest is special & sort of connects to the release of a current book so I had to get it in now. Plus, I'm super-excited about it & couldn't wait any longer so HERE WE GO! The latest Bat-Blog Contest is for an Autographed Signed-Copy of Chip Kidd's new book titled BAT-MANGA, THE SECRET HISTORY OF BATMAN IN JAPAN ( Paperback Edition ). You might have read my book review on this a few days ago. To summarize, the book is incredibly AMAZING! Famous book designer & author Chip Kidd teamed up with Super-Collector Saul Ferris & Photographer Geoff Spear to create this wonderful "Batman Japanese History" book. Basically, it reprints a ton of totally lost material done by the Manga ( comic book ) Artist Jiro Kuwata during the 1966 Batman TV Show craze in Japan and, as a bonus, features a lot of beautiful Vintage 1960's Batman Toys made in Japan. The book is really great & we were lucky enough to get a few signed copies to give away as a contest! You read that right! There's more than one autographed book so your chances of winning are way better than those other crappy "Batman Fan" wannabe-websites, ha ha! The rules are pretty simple: Just e-mail us your FULL NAME / ADDRESS with the phrase "CHIP KIDD'S BAT-MANGA BOOK" in the title. Batman Icon Set 1.0 is a free icon & folder set for Apple OS X, ranging from the classic to the modern. Please keep in mind that these ONLY work on newer Apple Personal Computers & NOT Windows PCs. I don't have an Apple so I have not been able to test them. I just think they look great & if you're a Batman Fan ( with an Apple ) then you might love them too. A friend sent me this link to a very cool Free Flash Online Video Game ( No download needed, play right on screen ) that has Batman's dog ACE, THE BATHOUND. If you remember a retro-80's video game called STARGATE it's sort of like that. Beware: it's sort of addictive!! Here's a link to check it out, have fun!
If you buy the current issue of TOTAL FILM magazine it has a Giant-Size "FREE" Poster of Heath Ledger's JOKER from THE DARK KNIGHT International Movie Poster. It's folded into 8 sections but pops open to measure about 23" X 32", that's pretty HUGE!! This is a magazine published in the UK but you can find it at better bookstores in the USA. The cost is around $6.00. Greedy "Scalpers" have been selling these on eBay for $20+. That was, until people found out they could get them in this magazine...those bastards!
