The LEGO Toy Company and Warner Brothers have recently announced that they will be teaming up to bring LEGO SUPER HEROES to life! With the popularity of the BATMAN toy line they have decided to bring all the other DC Comics characters to the fold. But don't hit your local toy store tonight, these are set to have a release date of January 2012.
The new LEGO DC Universe SUPER HEROES collection will feature 13 iconic Super Heroes in LEGO mini-figure form, including: Batman, Robin, Catwoman, The Joker, The Riddler, Two-Face, Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn, Bane, Bruce Wayne, Superman, Lex Luthor and Wonder Woman. Buildable characters will include Batman, The Joker and Green Lantern ( shown up above ). Be sure to check out the promo video down below featuring Batman, it's pretty cool!
As a side note: LEGO has plans to kick off a promotion that will take place from August to December in 2011 in advance of the launch. Fans are encouraged to use their collectible minifigures and existing LEGO collections to create original LEGO DC Universe SUPER HEROES adventures through video, photography or illustration, then share their submissions on www.LEGOSUPERHEROES.com. Entrants have a chance to win monthly prizes or a grand prize trip to California for exclusive tours of Warner Bros. Studios, WB Animation and LEGOLAND® California.
About 2 months ago, here at the Bat-Blog, we reported about the next new Batman PEZ that would be a part of the DC Comics' JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA Set. Back then we had a "prototype photo" & as it turns out it looks pretty much like the actual item. So, up above are some pictures of the real deal and we also get to see the PEZ Display-Box Header Card. There are three to collect: Superman, Green Lantern, & Batman! If these are not in your stores already they will be soon so please be sure to keep an eye out. I think these are pretty cool!
Just a quick post to let everybody know about a brand-new Batman Toy to keep an eye out for in the future. DC Comics & PEZ CANDY Inc. have teamed-up to create the JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA PEZ. This special PEZ Candy Dispenser Set will feature a bust of each character. So far they have announced Batman, Superman, & Green Lantern. But I'm guessing they will also be making other Superheroes as well ( Let's hope ). I mean, Hey! Where's Wonder Woman? Up above is a prototype photo. Warner Bros & Pentax have teamed-up to release a special DC SUPER HEROES Digital Camera around the time of the release of the Green Lantern Movie. Pentax is gonna sell a "DC COMICS Collector Pack" for their Optio RS1500 Digital Camera. Basically, it comes with seven different skins you can change on the front ( 3 of them are "Batman-related" ). The characters will include: Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, The Flash, Batman, Joker, and Catwoman! I really like the fact that they're using older comic book art...nice!
Picture Window Books ( a division of Capstone Publishing ) just released a brand-new series of Children Books called DC SUPER-PETS. The Illustrator for these are none other than Art Baltazar. You might recognize his name from the successful TINY TITANS comic books. The basic concept for this new series is that they tell stories about the adventures of SUPER-PETS who are owned by some of your favorite DC Comics Superheroes: Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, & Green Lantern. Their names are Ace the Bat-Hound, Krypto the Super-Dog, Streaky the Super-Cat, Beppo the Super-Monkey, and Jumpa the Super-Kangaroo.
Now, to celebrate the launch of this new series, Picture Window Books is sponsoring a writing contest for students in grades 1-3. Children enter the "My Pet is Super" contest by writing an article for an imaginary newspaper, The Daily Planet, about why their own pet is super! Art Baltazar will create an illustration of the winning Super-Pet that will appear in a future book in the DC Super-Pets series. The winning student will receive the original art as well as copies of the book. Authors of the top 50 entries in the contest will also win free books. OK, Since the Bat-Blog is ALL about the Dark Knight I'm just posting photos of the Batman-related statues, Batman and Catwoman. But before I get ahead of myself, here's the deal. For 2011 DC Direct is coming out with a huge set of statues to celebrate the entire DC UNIVERSE ONLINE Video Game world. They measure approx. 7 1/2" tall & are cold-cast porcelain. They're also based on the comic book art of Jim Lee. So far there are 10 statues planned to be released in small waves during 2011 but I think they will add even more once the video game becomes very popular. Who are the characters made so far? You have Batman, Catwoman, Black Canary, Green Arrow, Green Lantern, Solomon Grundy, Superman, The Flash, Wonder Woman, and Zatanna! While surfing through eBay the other day I came across this Life-Size BATMAN Statue & knew it had to be shared. Why? Well, besides being extremely cool, the same company also makes many other members of the Justice League. Anyone who has been reading the Bat-Blog for any length of time knows I am totally goo-goo over Funko Toys, ha ha, so check these out! Here's some wonderful photos of the brand-new FUNKO FORCE Mini-Action Figures ( with Bobble Head action! ) that will be coming out! At first I was just gonna show the BATMAN & JOKER ones, because this blog is mainly about "collecting Batman stuff", but the others were so cool I decided to add them too, ha ha! The extras include: SUPERMAN, GREEN LANTERN, & AQUAMAN. Oh man, I am totally loving these cool new toys & the JOKER one has got to be my personal favorite, ha! There's a toy company I really love named Funko & they're mainly known for making Wacky Wobblers ( Character-Related Bobblehead Nodders ). Well, they now have the license to do DC Comics Comic Book characters. Yes!! Now, the Bat-Blog reported about most of these new toys awhile back but we finally got some actual photos instead of prototype pics! Plus, some extra news. First the pics: Shown here are the "Batman Computer Sitter" figure, it's sa-weet! Look for it around August, 2010. The next item is the "Batman Wacky Wobbler Bobble-Car". Basically it's a bobble-head inside a Batmobile car...very cool! ( There will also be 2 color variations, one black, another blue ). Now the new stuff: The next few photos are their Funko-Force 2.0 Vinyl Figures. Shown here is Batgirl & 2 different Batman variations. OK, they look the same in these pics but one of the Batman figures have metallic paint. OK, the very last picture is totally amazing! Here are the 1st seven figures that will come out. We have Batgirl, Batman, Robin, Green Lantern ( what's he doing in there? Ha! ), Penguin, Joker, & The Riddler! Oh man, all this stuff is totally cool. Is Funko trying to torture me?! Over at the DC BEYOND website they have a new free online BATMAN: THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD 3D Flash Video Game called "STREETS OF GOTHAM: FULL THROTTLE!". It looks pretty cool! I have not played it yet but it's a race car racing game with Batman, Catwoman, Green Arrow, The Joker, The Huntress, Green Lantern &, I think, Wildcat. The goal is to win a few races, in a row, so you can unlock a new vehicle for Batman. Oh, it's the BAT-JET! Yes, you get to fly around the track! Here's a link to check it out, just click HERE!
More News from TOY FAIR 2010: OK, you know the toy company named FUNKO? They make those awesome Wacky Wobbler Nodders. I really love those things. Well, now they have another division in their company that makes cute Character Plush Dolls ( or Plushes ). They're doing the Wizard of OZ, Alice in Wonderland, & the Justice League of America! To get things started here are Batman, The Flash, Green Lantern, & Superman. Now this totally makes me wonder since they finally ( finally! ) got the right to do DC Comics comic book characters then maybe, just maybe, they might start to make a few Funko Bobblehead Nodders. That would be so awesome!!

This show is titled "Revenge of The Reach" & the Special Guest Stars will be Blue Beetle & Guy Gardner with the Green Lantern Corps. ( The "Challengers of The Unknown" will be in the guests in the teaser-part of the show ). It will air on January 1st, 2010 on the Cartoon Network. The Basic Plot is: Blue Beetle is finally ready for a mission of his own and things go smoothly until he tries to deliver his captured villain to Oa, where he is attacked by the Green Lanterns! Blue's scarab is revealed to be linked to an army of evil aliens known as the Reach - does he have the power to resist their influence?

The Electric Playground got to interview a few of the voice actors from BATMAN: THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD. We get to hear from Diedrich Bader, the voice of Batman, who is always really great because he's very funny & seems like a really cool guy. Then there is John Di Maggio, who is the voice of Aquaman. Yes, "Outrageous!". We also get to hear from James Arnold Taylor, who plays 2 different superheroes on the show: Guy Gardner & Green Arrow.
