I recently discovered that the Bat-Blog's RSS feed is avaliable as a free download on Plusmo! So, now you can read the Bat-Blog where ever you are! Now, I don't have a fancy mobile phone so I'm not sure how to do it but their website has very easy-to-follow instructions. Basically, Plusmo is a free service to add your favorite blogs & websites to your mobile phone. Now I did read some of the instructions & Plusmo is FREE but they warn that some phone services charge for it so you might check with your phone provider to see. It said that phones with unlimited plans are always free. We want to invite people to get this service & see what it looks like. The website has a demo of how it appears on your phone & it looks pretty cool! Here's a link to check it out.

The video you're about to watch is the original ABC Batman network presentation for the 1960's Batman television series. This video includes the batusi & Frank Gorshin as the Riddler. Vintage 1960's Photograph: COOL KIDS IN BATMAN COSTUME!!
Ha Ha, I seriously LOVE to get vintage photos like this! I received an e-mail this morning from a loyal Bat-Blog reader named John. He wrote, "I love your site, check it every day! I thought you might like this picture of my brother and I (I'm on the left). I figure it's from early 1967, based on the snow on the awning, and those masks were merchandised from the Batman TV show. They were black ski-masks with bat-ears and the emblem on the forehead." Wow! Thanks John, this picture is really really great! I love the expression on your faces. You guys are beaming with bat-pride, ha ha! Seriously, this is a very wonderful family photo & I appreciate you sending it. I know my readers are gonna love it! If any other readers have photos to share then please send them in today! ( Our e-mail button is on the left-side of this blog ).

FIGHTS, FLIGHTS, & TIGHTS: A Superhero Costume Contest
My friend Adam sent me a link the other day to a website where they held a contest for "Best Home-Made Superhero Costumes". It was called FIGHTS, FLIGHTS, & TIGHTS. The idea was to not do an exact replica of an actual costume but to make your own variation, your own style. There were quite a bit of entries & all of them were actually really good. The winner was a cute girl in a retro-style Supergirl outfit. The photos I'm showing here are a few that were "Batman" related. I love when people get creative so I thought this would be a neat post to do. The contest was held at a website called PROJECT ROOFTOP. The cool thing was that the prizes were very high-quality drawings of the winners wearing their costumes done by different comic book-style artists who are also VERY talented. The last picture is an example of the girl in the top photo. To see the whole event click here.

BATMAN Represented in The World of Fine Art, HA HA!
On a personal note I'm a HUGE fan of ART. I go to art galleries & museums, a lot! I read a ton of art magazines & books too. I've been this weird my whole life. So, when I see art prints or paintings that have used Batman in some way it's kind of a thrill. Here's a few I have seen recently. The 1st photo is of an art print by Paul Slater. It's titled AMERICAN GOTHAM & it totally cracks me up every time I see it, ha ha! Paul Slater is one of Britain's most popular illustrators. He has a huge client list & is represented by The Cutter Gallery. If you think you might wanna own an actual art print of this image then visit their website where they sell high-quality prints. http://www.cuttergallery.com
This next "Batman" Piece of Art is something I came across on the internet the other day. It's a wood-relief painting that is sort-of like a sculpture in the fact that it has a 3-D quality about it. It's made to look like Egyptian Hieroglyphics from a long time ago but appropriates the Batman character's image....hilarious! Please be sure to click on this to see a slightly larger picture. The fine details to his woodwork are amazing! If you would like to see more of his art then look for a guy named "Gian-Boy" on Flickr. I'd like to give more info about this artist but all of his writing is in Italian, ha ha!

Vintage 1960's BATMAN & ROBIN Carnival Souvenir Photo
Here's a random photo I saw on Flickr the other night & thought it was too good to not share. It's a Vintage 1960's Carnival Souvenir Photo showing a little kid poking his head through a hole to have his picture taken. The background has a painted scene of Batman & Robin. The end result? It made the kid look like Robin....very cool!

VINTAGE BATMAN Toys & Memorabilia 1960's & 70's
Today I thought I needed to do a post about Vintage Batman Toys. This is a crowd favorite & really the main reason for the blog, the joy of collecting old toys. The 1st photo is a picture of an old magazine ad for the Batman Bat-Cycle Riding Toy that I completely stole off a friend's website, ha ha! He has a great page that I like to visit to see old toy catalog pictures. It's called PLAIDSTALLIONS.COM & you should check it out sometime. The 2nd photo is of an extremely Super-RARE Set of "Official Batman JOKER EYES" novelty glasses. These would almost be worthless out of the package because they are so generic but as you can tell the Header Card says it all. I really love the vintage graphics on this piece, very cool! The next item is from the UK & quite RARE also. It's the Husky Extra 1966 Batmobile Diecast Car made by Corgi, #1202. The last photo is a nice collection of Vintage Signet Paperback Books done around the time of the 1966 Batman TV Show. We hope you have enjoyed some of these pics & if you have any pix from your personal collection then please send them in to share.
WOW ~ The Bat-Blog Has Over 1000 Posts & Still Going!
The other day I posted the 1000th post here at the Olde Bat-Blog & totally forgot to celebrate. Arrrggghhh! I was gonna make a big deal out of it, ha ha! So, I thought I would do a simple thing & just post 2 favorite pictures of Batman. The 1st one is an original sketch of The Dark Knight by Bob Kane, the creator. He did this in 1988 or 1989. The next one is by the classic cartoonist Fred Hembeck ©2007. I love his "cartoony-style"! I wanna take this moment to thank all the loyal readers, people who have given us links, people who have sent in material, just everybody...this blog has been a lot of fun & I do plan on doing it for quite awhile. If anyone has any ideas for improvement or promotion then please shoot us an e-mail. PROFILES IN HISTORY Sells Jim Carrey's RIDDLER COSTUME on eBay!
OK, I've done a few posts in the past about this amazing auction company called PROFILES IN HISTORY. This company gets the most incredible Hollywood memorabilia to sell. Recently ( around Dec 14th, 2007 ) on eBay, they sold the original RIDDLER COSTUME worn, on screen, by Jim Carrey in the BATMAN FOREVER movie ( 1995 ). It sold for $10,000.00. Yes, you read that right, ten thousand dollars!! Then, they also sold the authentic RIDDLER COSTUME GREEN HAT. It went for $4000.00. I've been following this auction service for years & I'm sort-of a Fan. They have a very cool website you might like to check out sometime. Right now they're promoting a sale where you can get an original Terminator Movie 6 Ft-Tall Exo-Skeleton Statue ( used in the movie, extremely detailed ) & an original Jack Skeleton figure & Sled used in the Stop-Motion Animation of The Nightmare Before Christmas! These guys always have totally insane museum-quality items!! Here's a link!

Batman Creator BOB KANE Endorses The CHILD WELFARE LEAGUE Charity
In 1985-88 Bob Kane worked with the CHILD WELFARE LEAGUE Of AMERICA to create some Batman-related promotional material, mainly posters. Here's an example of the art work he submitted & his actual letter to the president of that wonderful charity. OK, I sort of have 2 reasons for doing this post. One is to show the historical value of the artwork as related to Batman & Robin. The other is to ask my readers to please check out this charity & maybe send a donation. This is a very well-known & much respected organization that does a lot to help children, mainly in areas of child abuse & AIDS. I've included a link button to the Official CWLA website, please check it out sometime. You'll be glad you did!

Every Bat-Blog reader knows that on Wednesday we post 2 brand new Batman Desktop Wallpapers but tonight I need some extra space on my PC so I'm gonna give you not two, but four, Batman Wallpapers! The 1st one is a Golden Age image of Batman & Robin in a spotlight originally drawn by Jack Burnley, a Classic! I love the 2nd one. This is one of those vending machine rides you see outside grocery stores but I have never never never seen this one before! It's the Batmobile Car from the BATMAN FOREVER Movie!! The 3rd one is well known among Aurora Model Kit collectors. It's the 1960's Burry's Cookie Store Display with an ad for the Vintage Aurora 1966 Batmobile Model Kit...sweet! The last one is a wallpaper from the Official DC Comics website. Please feel free to use them in a MySpace Layout or just to brighten your desktop...enjoy!

Amazing Batman PENGUIN VILLAIN COSTUME By Trevor!
Today is Christmas & I got up early to see if I could catch up on my e-mail & send some last-minute holiday greetings to my friends who live in other countries far, far away. When I opened my e-mail I was pleasantly surprised by this very cool photo a Bat-Blog Fan had sent! His name is Trevor & he did this totally amazing PENGUIN COSTUME! If you attend the WONDERCON in Northern California then I bet you have seen this guy, ha ha! I mean, how could you miss it? This PENGUIN costume is really really great! Thank you Trevor for sending the cool pic, it made my day. If any other Bat-Blog Readers have some cool photos to share then please do.

JOKER / BATMAN TOYS Both Vintage & Modern!
Checking my Bat-Files, ha ha, I noticed that I have collected a few photos of some cool Joker Toys ( both past & present ) so that gets to be the post of the day. The 1st photo is of a Joker Pin-Up Poster that was drawn by the classic comic book artists Carmine Infantino & Murphy Anderson. Ya gotta admit that this is a beautiful piece of ART! The 2nd item is the sheet music for THE MAN WHO LAUGHS. OK, This is not an official piece of Batman merchandise. But, this is the picture that inspired Bob Kane to help create the Joker & it's sorta famous among Batman fans & collectors. ( Notice I said, "helped" to create ). The 3rd item is an amazing example of Batman/Joker Memorabilia. It's the FIST-FIGHTING JOKER Mego 8" Doll in Original Box with Karate Kung-Fu Action! This was released in the 1970's & is EXTREMELY RARE!! ( Thank You Jimmy for sending that photo). Following the doll is a nice photo of the recent JOKERMOBILE Diecast car made by Corgi. Recently Corgi made a ton of these Batman-related vehicles, mostly many different variations of the Batmobile, but this is one of my favorites. The next pic is an example of a few DC Comics Mini-Mates "action figures" made by DC Direct. I really love the one of Harley Quinn. The last photo is very current but because of limited quantity is extremely RARE. Warner Bros recently gave away a few Joker T-Shirts has part of their DARK KNIGHT Movie Viral-Marketing Campaign. The t-shirt was presented in a gift box with the logo for a fake company called "Gotham Novelties, Inc". It's funny because it says, "Est. 1928", ha ha! The T-Shirt of Heath Ledger's face is kinda cool but I really love the beautiful gift box more. Whew! This was a lot to cover. If ANY readers have some really RARE or super-cool collections of Joker Memorabilia then please send us some photos to share...Thanks!
