BATGIRL BACKGROUNDS - Wacky Wallpaper Wednesday!

On Wednesday, every week, the Bat-Blog Website posts 2 Free BATMAN Backgrounds. We call it "Wacky Wallpaper Wednesday!" We always try to go with some theme or idea & BATGIRL seemed like a good subject. So, here we go! The 1st image is a close-up shot of a Batgirl Action Figure. It's from when she was in the Animated Series TV Cartoon. I know the image is kinda strange, but please try it as a desktop background, it's actually sort of fun! Now, speaking of TV. The next wallpaper is a publicity photo of Batgirl from the 1960's BATMAN TV Show. Of course this is the Actress Yvonne Craig & she looks totally wonderful in her bat-suit costume, Hubba Hubba! We hope you enjoy these, but if you don't, then we have hundreds more available in our posts from the past. You can click the "More Wallpapers" Link Button down below:

Photos - BATMAN COLLECTIBLES - Water Snow Globes

Check out these amazing Batman Snow Globes! These pics were sent in by a Bat-Blog Fan named Kevin ( Please be sure to click on them for more detailed photos ). I'm not sure if he got these as Christmas gifts the other day or he has been collecting them awhile. Either way, they're really great! The 1st two are sort of related to the "Batman: The Animated Series" cartoon. One has Mr. Freeze & the other shows Two-Face getting punched after robbing a bank, ha! I have always loved that TV show so I really like these. Well, the last one is more "Comic Book" related, but it's equally as cool! It shows Batman at his parent's grave site & it's more emotional than the other ones. A special thanks goes out to Kevin for sharing his photos, "You ROCK! Sir!"

These bring back a lot of fond memories for me because I totally loved that cartoon. It is a great TV show & all the toys were awesome!

Batman The Animated Series & Simpsons Outdoor Wall Mural

Here's an interesting piece of Bat-History! This is an outdoor wall mural found in Portland, OR. It was painted back in the 1990's when "Batman the Animated Series" was on FOX TV. They also included Bart Simpson dressed-up as "Bartman" from The Simpsons...very cool!

Vintage BATMAN - THE ANIMATED SERIES Toys!

Here are some totally great pictures sent in by a Good Citizen named Kevin. I think he either wanted to share a few wonderful Vintage Items from his Batman Toy Collection ...or he wanted to torture me, I'm not sure, ha! You'll see what I'm talking about later, these toys are really really cool! The 1st item is a BATMAN: THE ANIMATED SERIES Slot Car Race Set by Tyco. It was called "Gotham City Chase". I have this item in my collection & have always loved it. The graphics all over the box are wonderful & the Slot Cars of the TV Cartoon Batmobile & Joker Car are very cool. Now the next item is actually a little better. Well, "better" might not be the right word but it is a lot harder to find ( more rare! ). It's the POWER PUNCH BATMAN Play Set. Basically it's just like the old ROCK 'EM SOCK 'EM Game from the 1960's but instead of robots you get Batman VS Penguin!! This toy was an EXCLUSIVE item at KAY-BEE TOYS. In other words, you could ONLY buy it at that retail toy store. I remember when it came out & it was sort of expensive. Maybe around $40.00? Which, at the time, I thought it was kind of over-priced, or maybe I was just broke ( ha! ), but it seemed like a pretty high price for what it was. But don't get me wrong! It's an extremely cool toy & one that I totally regret either not buying new or even finding later. The original box it came in was gigantic in size & the toy is pretty BIG too. Basically you & a friend would operate some levers & buttons to make 2 large figures fight each other. The figures actually threw punches & the heads would pop-up if you hit them just right. Sort of like a knock-out! I remember seeing this toy at Garage Sales a long time ago & it was always wasted! now, you never find this thing...it's just super-rare!! (( Check this out - The very last photo, up above, is actually a BATMAN VS PENGUIN DESKTOP WALLPAPER I made with the graphics from the back of the box! )) I wanna thank Kevin for shooting these wonderful photos. These Vintage BATMAN Toys are great to see again! If any other Bat-Blog Fans have any bat-items they would like to share ( old or new ) then please send us an email, thanks.

Just a quick post - Last night, on the crazy Internet, I found these cool Halloween masks of the Joker & Penguin. They're done in the cartoon style of Batman: The Animated Series. I think they're only sold as child-size but I'm still gonna have to buy a set of these later, they're pretty cool. Here's a LINK if you want to check them out.

Harley Quinn Meets The JOKER, Mark Hamill

OK, I gotta admit, right now, that I am totally & completely super-jealous!! Why? Well, our friend Caroline got to meet Mark Hamill at this year's SD Comic Con, that's why! You might know him. He played the JOKER in Batman: The Animated Series. He also played the same character in the Batman: Arkham Asylum Video Game, among others. He also played a guy named Luke Skywalker in some movie called Star Wars, which I hear is excellent. Arrrgghh! Caroline, I'm so very very JEALOUS!! Ha Ha, actually it's really great that she got to meet him & I wanna thank her for allowing me to post this wonderful photo. Also, as a side-note, her Harley Quinn Make-Up and Costume is awesome!

DC Universe Batman Action Figure of the Gray Ghost!

Oh yeah, at this year's 2010 San Diego Comic Con there was a lot of news about brand-new Batman toys & action figures that will be coming out later this year but my favorite thing is the fact that Mattel, in their DC Universe line, will be coming out with "The Gray Ghost"! He was a character created during the TV run of Batman: The Animated Series & appeared in an episode called "Beware the Gray Ghost". It's one of my all time favorites! It was a really great story but the cool thing was that they got Adam West to do the voice acting for that character. It was really a big deal at the time. You know, to sort of have West come back to the "Batman world". Basically, the Gray Ghost was an old time TV series that a young Bruce Wayne, as a small child, loved to watch with his Father & it inspired him deeply. In fact, after becoming Batman, he used his memory of the floor design to the "Gray Ghost's Lair" to design the total look of the Batcave. In other words, the Gray Ghost was Batman's childhood hero. The story had some interesting angles like showing the life of the "Gray Ghost" actor in modern times & how he was always broke & having a hard time paying the rent. He thought he was a has-been, but all the while he never knew how important he was to so many people who grew up watching his show. It was a very heartwarming side-story, sort of a cautionary tale. Anyways, just check out the photo of the figure, it's AWESOME! Also, for fun I posted this video down below of a Fox TV promo for the "Beware the Gray Ghost" episode.

BATMAN MEETS JOKER - Jim Lee and Mark Hamill

I randomly came across this photo the other night & thought it was pretty cool. It shows the famous Comic Book Artist Jim Lee ( Now DC Comics Co-Publisher ) with Actor Mark Hamill, who did the voice for the Joker in the "Batman: The Animated Series" TV Cartoon & the "Batman: Arkham Asylum" video game. Mark Hamill was also in some movie called STAR WARS that I hear was pretty good.

One thing I love about doing the Bat-Blog is being in touch with lots of other Batman fanatics who are almost as crazy as I am, almost. But one of the coolest things is when they send photographic proof! Please check out the various Batman Birthday Cakes shown up above. All of these are cakes that our friend Perry has had so far. The years range from 1995 to 2008. Well, sounds to me like it's time for another one, ha! Have you ever had a Batman-themed party? Please send us some pics. My Friend Meets Batman Voice Actor KEVIN CONROY in Chicago!

OK, I'm totally jealous here!! While on Facebook the other night I thought I would go over to my friend John's page to see what he's been up to lately & say, "Howdy". Well, when I got there he had just posted this really great pic! He recently went to that C2E2 Comic Book Convention in Chicago. I really really wanted to go to this thing but couldn't do it this year. Anyway, while he was there, he got to meet KEVIN CONROY!! Yes, the Voice Actor who created Batman's voice for the Batman: The Animated Series TV Cartoon, the Arkham Asylum Video Game, etc...Batman! Now, just to clarify, Kevin is on the left & John is the guy in the bat-suit, ha! Yes, John also has an extremely amazing 1966 Batman TV Costume, Adam West Style! He said that meeting Mr. Conroy was a total thrill & I believe it! I've heard that he's very gracious & overall a pretty nice guy, that's cool. Plus, in my own personal opinion, he's the greatest "Batman Voice" out there! Thanks to John for allowing me to publish this wonderful photo, I'm still jealous!

VIDEO: Kevin Conroy Disses Christian Bale at C2E2

The big piece of Batman News over the weekend was C2E2 where Kevin Conroy sort of kinda dissed Christian Bale's Batman Voice ! Yeah, at the Chicago Comic Book Convention event there was a panel of animation voice actors where somebody asked Kevin Conroy ( Batman: The Animated Series TV Cartoon & Batman: Arkham Asylum Video Game ) what he thought about Bale's version of Batman...check it out!!

THE BATMAN ADVENTURES - Original Comic Book Cover Artwork

Fans of Original Batman Comic Book Artwork are gonna totally love this! Up above is the Cover Art done by Mike Parobeck for issue #35 of THE BATMAN ADVENTURES. This was basically a tie-in for the Animated Series Cartoon & done in the exact same style. Personally, I have always loved the TV Show so the comics they made were great too because you got the same great graphics. (( Please be sure to click on the pic up above for a way larger, more sharp, picture )) The minimal-clean artwork is totally beautiful! Also, the cover features both Batman & Catwoman so that's kind of cool too.

Zachary's BATMAN TATTOO ART - The Animated Series Opening Intro

Here's a very clever BATMAN TATTOO sent in by a Bat-Blog Fan named Zachary. He totally loves BATMAN: THE ANIMATED SERIES & to prove it his tattoo shows 3 frames from the Animation Storyboard for the cartoon's opening intro. WOW! That's very original & actually very very cool! He said he got the image from the BATMAN ANIMATED Book by Paul Dini & Chip Kidd. I love that book. It's a great "behind the scenes" look at the making of the TV Show. It came out a few years ago & is a total fan-favorite among many Batman Collectors ( For more info I posted an Amazon link at the bottom of this post ). I wanna thank Zachary for sending in this wonderful photo & also give him props for getting such a unique bat-tat! Remember Readers, if you know anybody who recently got some ink done then please shoot us a photo. Our e-mail button is always on the top right-hand side of this blog.
